How Soon are CC balances updated to FICO

Does anyone know how soon after a CC statement closing date that the activity is reported to the credit reporting agencies and posted to your credit report?

My VISA and MC closes on the 25th and 26th, respectively.  I want to check my FICO scores with the latest activity and scores but I need to know how soon I can do that.

Thanks,

S~

Re: How Soon are CC balances updated to FICO

Almost all lenders update on the statement date or the day after. HSBC/Orchard bank cards update on the last business day of the month, as does US Bank. AmEx reports the balance on the statement, but they don't update until four weeks after the statement. And there are bound to be random local banks and CU's that have their own dates.

But for the big-boy banks, with the exception of those above, it's the statement date.

Once they update to the credit bureaus, you then have to wait for the bureaus to update. Generally Experian does so immediately, while TU and EQ can take up to a week or more to post the new balances. If you have a credit monitoring service that lets you pull daily, you can wait for the new balances to show up there.

The info doesn't come to FICO. Your FICO scores are crunched at the credit bureaus, using the info that is on your reports at that exact point in time. myFICO is just a consumer portal to order and view them.

Clear as mud, right?

GEMB is slow to update 0 balances.  They seem to report at the end of the month.

Thanks! People keep telling me that, and it doesn't seem to stick on my brain.

If anyone reading this thread has a US Bank CC, can you confirm (or correct) that they update on the last day of the month, reporting that balance? I was surprised to read this a month or so ago, and I'd appreciate a memory check. thx

Balances seem to update at the worse possible time. If its a large balance its quick, if its a zero balance it seems to take forever to show up. Smiley Wink
