Constant reaction to Amex Zync: "Wow, I've never seen a white one before!"

I have used this card extensively since last May, and it has been on the market since 2008 I believe... Yet almost weekly I get the "Wow, I have never seen this before" from waitresses, bartenders, cashiers, etc. I have only seen one myself in the wild. I split a check with two guys throwing down platinum cards and the waitress reacted much more to my lowly Zync, lol. Any similar stories?

I know the card is popular on this board, but it seems to not have gained traction in the market. I like the features so I hope enough people sign up for it to keep it around. I plan on getting a Gold or Platinum card this year but I plan on keeping this Zync as well because of double points on dining, travel, and cable/phone bills

i think i got that one or twice when i used the card... for the first couple months i had it. Now i rarely use it ... Its nice yeah but I enjoy the cash back cards like discover more and bofa sig visa cash rewards card

I've gotten that a few times as well. But i've also noticed that I've never really seen any advertising for the card. Maybe others have. It seems like you would only know what it was if you read the boards or happened to to notice it among all the card offerings on the Amex website.

I used my Zync almost everywhere I went for the last 1.5 months and havent gotten any compliments or comments yet. I have seen a couple of cashiers flip it to the back a couple of times before swiping it. Also with a look on their face like they never seen the card before or they are not sure if its even a real CC. lol

I'll catch a comment from time to time. Not all that often but I do get them.

I like my Zync. Why? Not sure - I guess it looks "cool"! LOL

I get it a lot with my BCP as well. Amex in general is just more rarely used.

Maybe its a CC with a white background? I used my Barclay Apple Visa once, and the dude was like wow, what card is this? He loved the way it looked even though there isnt really much on it.

My wife has one of those, and she is also 54! It is kind of dorky but they upgraded her a few years back so she took it...

I got that from two waitresses. They were wondering what kind of kind it was. The platinum is silver and dull in color so nothing special. I always thought that the AMEX platinum should be made out of metal or have some holographic front.

I guess any card the y can spend on is cool
