Discover Card Which one & when ?

I need some advice here. Here is a quick breakdown.

Loan on car April 2011

Capital One June 2010 Credit $1750.00 Balance $205.00

Amex Zynx October 2011 Credit $500.00 Balance 0.00

Orchard Bank November 2010 Credit $300.00 Balance 0.00

Macys June 2005 Credit @ $100.00 haaaa Balance 0.00

I have never missed any payments and only use about 30% credit on each card I have. My Fico score is a 659. I have on my credit report baddy for $200.00 from 4 years ago and plan on leaving there. Im thinking about apply a Discover Card, but which one. I go out to dinner a lot. I'm not a big shopper though. The reason why I want a Discover card is because I'm looking to purchase a home. Any help..... Which card and when should I apply ?

I hope my 659 credit would be ok. I'm affaid to take a enquiry since I have none. Should I wait till like June. I would like a 700 credit score. If i apply now I might get a lower credit score or $ limit.

The link I gave above is a soft pull on your credit not a hard. It is only to tell you if you qualify, if you get an offer from the link go for the full app (hard pull)

I tried using the pre approval form once and it said that it had no pre approval offers for me because I wasn't in their records.

Would it be better to wait for a better credit score for a better credit limit. Or should I get my foot in the door.

I've personally heard stories of Discover not liking baddies too much, but it is from 4 years ago, so not sure.
I've thought about applying to them but I'm going to try to get my util down (currently at 28%).

I got my Disco More 11 mo after a BK7 discharge, so I don't know how much Discover doesn't like Baddies.

FWIW, I didn't have any thing listing on the pre-approval Disco site either. I apped for the card on thier site w/ 0% intro and a CB bonus for X spend in 3 months, got declined for that offer and it came back with "But we CAN approve you for 3.9% intro APR". It didn't make any mention of getting the bonus, I'm guessing I won't get one, but my 3rd statement won't cut until tomorrow.

My Fico had me around 650, they said 633ish (different scoring model, I guess). They gave me $1K.

I had an erroneous "baddie" (collection) on my CR's when I applied for Discover More around April of 2011 (would only approve with a CS when I called). After I finally went through the state attorney general to get said "baddie" removed that summer, I ended up applying for DM again around December; got a wait message, called, they said the system had approved me for $6500 so they weren't sure why I got a wait message. They decided there were a couple "glitches" being it should have came back with an instant approval.

In my experience and from all I've read, Discover does not like "baddies" whatsoever.

That's just about the same for my DH when he was approved -- very similar scores, same CL.

I'm guessing you got the More. Did they give you the 15 months 0% intro deal?

So far I like Discover a lot more than I ever thought I would (no pun intended lol). They seem to have very good CS and I've saved a few bucks using "Shop Discover" too. Whenever I've called they've been VERY impressive by being helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. I'd rank their CSRs up there with NFCU and PenFed, and coming from me, that's a huge compliment.

It's funny that years ago I never considered Discover to be "a real CCC" and now I'm so glad I didn't pass on the chance to apply. I never would have thought when they first came out that one day they would (IMHO) make BoA and Citi seem like cheap "imported" plastic.
