Approved for 3 Rivers FCU Visa Platinum Credit Card!!!!

WOW...looks like all the talk about using local credit unions is more than just talk!

I tested the waters with my local credit union here in Fort Wayne (IN), 3 Rivers FCU, as to getting a credit card to replace the usual suspects. I explained to them that I had a BK7 that was over 2 years discharged, but that I had no late pays and scores in the mid 600s.

Their response? We can probably give you a small limit card while you rebuild with us (I love credit unions...seriously, I do. They don't see you as a number. They see you as an important part of their very being. They share your successes and grow with you - even after you make mistakes).

They encouraged me to apply...I did...

APPROVED!!!

$1,000 limit...13% APR...AF $0...minimum finance charge NONE

And here I was foolishly pining for Discover...when all along the perfect card was waiting for me at my credit union.

Great news! Were you already a member of the CU? or joined and apped for the card? I recently opened a checking/savings with a local CU and I am considering one of their cards.

I joined (opened checking and savings), then shortly thereafter began to apply for their credit card and stopped short of submitting the application online. They actually sent me a message saying they had seen my incomplete application and wondered whether I had any questions or needed help to finish it.

What can I say...these people are terrific. They rolled out the welcome mat on all counts...checking, savings, credit...THAT is how you earn the business of a customer!

I swear, I feel like I never want to disappoint them because of the trust they are showing in my ability to make smart decisions. I will be ultra-responsible with this card (and the money accounts)...no question about it.

Congrats! That's amazing. My local CU started me out with $500 in June and I just got a CLI last month to $2500. They are pretty conservative. It looks like your CU is very generous! :)
