You knew it was coming ....AMEX zync approvals ....info???

This hopefully (if BK approved) will be my next card....I will wait till then ......I just would like to get some approval history BK or not ....score associated with it and any derogs...

I will wait till my 1 remaining collection drops off...I have a BK reporting from June 2005....after December of this year,will only have 1 inqury that will be a year old on all reports....

This card is my next target ........

any history would be of great appreciation....

YMMV, but AMEX is not especially BK-friendly. That having been said, yours will be 7 years old in June. I would suggest you wait at least until that 7 year BK mark passes before applying for anything AMEX...even the Zync.

Got approved for the zync on Tuesday! They pulled EQ with a 652 fico score, one delinquency 120+ but it was not my card I was just the authorized user... My other scores are 736 TU fico and 702 EX

There is no way to guess what AMEX is going to say.

For almost every reasonable situation where someone says "AMEX won't approve you if..." you can find someone who has been approved even though they committed whatever credit sin it might have been.

There is absolutely no rhyme or reason to AMEX approvals and denials. That said, the Zync is fairly easy to get, so if I were in your shoes I'd be least nervous about applying for that card out of any of the AMEX products. Good luck.

Aside from the BK variable, I'd say generally a 650+ FICO relatively free of baddies and a decent income should get you in the door. But here's the thing: That BK will loom like a shadow. The other poster was correct...SOMEONE will likely come ot this thread and say he/she was approved with a BK, but I have actually been denied for that reason. Like Discover, the rep I spoke to on recon told be point-blank I would have been approved had it not been for the BK. Mine is a little over 2 years old, but I get the idea that they do not like seeing it on the CR.

I'm one of those "shouldn't have been approved" guys. Not only do I still have a Chapter 7 on my record (due to fall off in May!!) I also burned AMEX in that Chapter 7 to the tune of around $4500. I applied for Clear in February of last year and was approved with a $5000 CL. I have since added a Blue Cash Preferred and a Zync and have received CLI's with no problems whatsoever. So again, anything's possible. I did have a strong credit history since the BK, including a successfully paid off auto loan, numerous credit cards and zero late payments, but I have no idea what my FICO was at the time. About a year ago it was right around 700, though I don't know the exact figure.

yeah...thinking of all the people that apply for AMEX cards.....seems like a slim number are approved with BK reporting......I guess a I just wanted to get an idea in regards to this specific card......

I just wanrt to get my foot in the door and I have been using my prepaid AMEX daily now for 2 weeks now...its a little inconvient to have to wait so long to reload ,but IF it it does help me get the Zync later its probably worth the little aggrevation...

With BKs within 10 years, the odds are very slim of an Amex approval. I have read of some who were declined even from bad debts of a few hundred dollars dating back 30 years; but, I've also heard of some with relatively recent (5 - 6 years) BKs who were approved. I'm not sure how they decide this.

In my opinion, I think Amex is worth it for the effort. They really do have a unique branding and offer lots of stuff most issuers don't. While the MR program isn't what it used to be, it's still the best single FF program if you spend money and travel.

In my view, I've still yet to see a "general purpose" card which offers a similar ROE to the SPG.

I apped 1 1/2 yrs ago for an Amex and was denied because there was a 9 1/2 yr-old BK on my CR. I apped in June, and it fell off in December the same year. The reason for denial was the BK.

However, I also hadn't built up a positive history post-BK. (Didn't have any idea how to do that because I hadn't found this forum.) Chances w/a BK are slim. If you stand any chance, you should have a clean, positive post-BK history.

I was approved for ZYNC last year with 3 or 4 CO accounts reporting, all 4+ years old. Also lots of 6+ year old late payments.

They counter~offered me the $200 Hard Limit ZYNC which I happily accepted...:cattongue:

Steve...when did App and get approved or the AMEX?
