Color Me Surprised Macy's and Overseas!

So I have a home Phone and it is private and in partners name, but I also have an 800# which is then forwarded to that number and I got a call (RARE, didn't know I had given out the 800# really to anyone) Anyway, it is automated and says "You have a call, would you like to accept?" Well I went to more options and around again and then I finally said okay accept still not knowing what and who is calling... well after a minute nothing so I hung up and called back and the guy answers "Macy's Credit" I said just got a call from this number. He responds "Well this is the front desk security of the building, they are gone for day! (Little shocked I am calling into security desk that is for building but not actual Macy's. He says don't worrya bout it... well I will, I shopped a lot today and in store and online so figured it was about that.

I hang up with him call number on card and proceed to hold for over 20 minutes for next rep (so much for elite, you have priority!)

So Im telling him I got a call but etc. etc. He tells me I am "Excellent Customer, when I started with card, how much I spend, etc.

I was like well I shopped a lot today, you don't see any security issues with verifying that and I'm good to shop now?

He says yes!

Okay, Thanks then.

And here is the part... Drum Roll!... "You are such an important and excellent customer of Macy's I'm going to issue you $15 Credit on you Macy's American Express RIGHT NOW!"

Me - "Umm.. WOW... Thank You SO MUCH!!"

yes $15 isn't much considering interest etc. but I just have never had Macy's give me money for nothing.

FOR THE LOVE.... I just need to realize I shouldn't get to excited out of one rep!!

So last night after that nice guy gave me the $15, I then get another call from this (513 area code) pickup and nothing, call back to make sure it was the same and I got the security guy... call back and actally get a rep that shows a call but still is trying to tell me they closed, now 2 minutes ago... guess she missed the part about I already called less then hour ago with a call center that closed over an hour ago! working our way across country with times call center open...

Anyway she seemed to be able to find that I needed to verify the account because of the online order and matching info or something... go through the 4 questions and good and approved and order goes through.

Fast Foward... This morning place another order online, I have now gone through last night and deleting all old credit cards on file (stolen Macy's card 1 and believe that "possible compromise" of account last year.

Get the phone number and email updated to and just 5 minutes ago receive the e-mail (no call) saying they cancelled my order before of the information not matching. Call the direct number and give code and puts on hold then starts to say something about charges or account... then has to apologize and put me on hold again (she was wrong!) says I need to verify and says I need 2 transactions at least 30 days old and on 2 seperate statments on either store or amex.

I was like exact date and amount from 30-90 days ago? "YES"

Me- Well that seems stupid as a verification of online purchases to verify the account with online statements!

This did not compute AT ALL... "I'm sorry sir but I just told you your account need to be verified before I can unlock"

Me- I have no issues with verifying the account but clearly I have access to the account owner or not because I made the online purchase logging in, so asking me to verify transactions vs. something off credit or eleswhere to verify account seem better.

"Well are you not the account owner? ummm... Yes! "Well that's why I said I needed to verify your account to take hold off!"

Me-NEVER MIND! gave 2 transactions and unlocked.

I dont know if it's how much I'm spending or what but Macy's has consistently since opening the account in 2008 locked my account for verifcation I would say 9 out of every 10 orders online!!

I'm like what is wrong with your security system that all charges get red flagged!!

Well off to the mall! lets see if my account is really working :P

So what dollar range are these orders that get flagged? I'd figure their fraud system would take into account higher than average volume during particular sale times (such as friends and family). It's great to stop the fraud and all that, but annoying a good customer is not a good thing. It's annoying to get blocked, but even more annoying to have to fight with them about it.

$500 online, in store was couple charges, the large was $700.
