Amazon CLI success! somewhat...

Today I decided to call Amazon about my 1k limit on my credit card. I was planning on making a big purchase in a few weeks and I didn't want to go over my limit (I don't even think that's possible with this card). Anyway knowing GE...they typically approve your requested amount...Sooo I requested 3k to bring my total to 4k...major fail as I suspected considering I've only had the card for a month now..they denied me for 4K and told me I'd received a letter stating why. Thinking my call was a complete fail, I chastised myself a great deal for not waiting for that 4th statement to request additonal credit. To my surprise when I logged into my account later today, I noticed my limit was bumped to 2k from 1k...the CSR failed to mention that! Somewhat success with GE Amazon!

I just got approved for this card today! I look forward to future CLI, but I was happy to start at a $900 limit! Congrats on your semi-sucess! :smileyhappy:

CONGRATS!!!

Your account likely got manual reviewed and they were able to still increase you, just not as much as you wanted.

I just find it pretty weird they flat out say it's denied instead of saying "oh you know we can counter your request with this amount..." LOL.

That's awesome, good for you!! I've been at $600 since I got the card earlier this year. Decided to try for an increase, and asked for $1000, denied! BUT the automated message said it could be raised to $850?? I pressed 2 to accept the offer :smileyhappy:

That sucks! :( You should try another increase soon. Talk to a rep. I think you have to say REP 4 times before it connects you but it helps to let them work the numbers rather than the system. They might give you a chance and approve you for a little more.

They do not seem to grant CLIs on Amazon for more than 1,000-1,500 at a time. I do have a card with them too, although not listed in my signature, its buried somewhere, have had it for 5 years with a $2500 CL. I would wait six months though before asking again. They do not seem to grant CLIs back to back until 6 months has passed IMO, but as always YMMV.

Congrats on the increase! My 600 limit on the amazon card is more than enough for me right now. The walmart 600 though is another story. I have only had the card a month and I use it pretty heavy. That's where I grocery shop each week and I know I will be there more when Christmas rolls around. I'm tempted to ask for an increase after I pif tomorrow but I saw where everyone says to wait 4 months. I was just approved for sams discover for 1800 so I wonder if ge would give me a bump on this one???

You can use your Sam's club Discover at Walmart tho!! That's what I'd do if I used it a lot. $600 is kinda low if you shop weekly there.
