Discover More denied due to inquiries...but not so sad.

Today, I decided to just give Discover a shot before I call off all credit applications for at least 6-9 months. Instantly denied due to inquiries. I called to recon and the CSR was friendly and informative. He basically said the only reason he could see that I was denied was the inquries (kind of figured , but I had the itch :( ) I asked if there was anyone else who could take a look and explained the reasons for most of the inquiries that were not credit card related. (student loans, apartment hunting, and car loans) It seems EVERYONE likes to pull TU for me. TU has about 15 inq (I KNOW!!) EQ & EX have maybe 3 each. He said he would forward it to a supervisor, and I should expect a response within 24-48 hours. I am not holding my breath on an approval, but it felt soooo good to get denied for inquiries and nothing else. I have worked hard on improving my credit and lowering my utilization. If it is a no go, I will wait at least 6 months and try again. I just wanted to share & thank the forum for all the advice that has helped me move forward. Now NO MORE APPS for me until I reapply for Discover!!

BTW: I just got my mail and there is a preapproval for a Discover More card! First preapproval letter in years. Talk about rubbing salt in the wounds. lol.

only 15 inquaries and u were denied? I had 20 and most were from this year and i was approved. They hard pulled TU.... I'm awaiting my card in the mail to see if they pulled anyone else. sorry for your luck!

best of luck to you! I ended up applying for discover this summer and got the 7 day message. Called in for recon and they asked me a couple questions about my credit cards and inquiries that I had and I explained everything. BOOM she came back with 1000 dollars and a promise of a CLI in 6 months with responsible use. hopefully they will hook you up.

I applied on October 27th when I came home from work that night. They ended up pulling TU and at the time I had a score of 739 so I was approved with a decent CL for someone with my income (1.5k) at first I got worried they denied me but when I checked on Monday morning, I had seen that I have been approved and was ecstatic, when I called in to activate, I was going to ask for a bigger CL, but I decided to keep my mouth shut. But yeah, Discover can be a tough company to become a member, just show your credit is getting better or is decent and they will hopefully approve you. Keep in mind that I had a little bit over 6 months of history with one card and an income of 12,000. Just show Discover (or any other creditor) you are responsible, and in no time you will become a Discover member.

I was just approve 2 days ago with a 6 month credit history score was 690 equifax and transunion 702 they pulled both :( but hey I got approved for low 750 credit line I'm happy that I am part of the discovery family now I was worried that I was gonna be denied cuz of all my inquiries... Last month I got amazon jcpenny paypal MasterCard extras Walmart and my first credit card was capitalone with a limit of 500$. No more credit till 2014 or December 2013
