How many GE Capital Retail Bank cards can/do you have?

I am new to all of this and was approved last week for the walmart card and the amazon store credit card from GE. But then I was denied for the paypal card through them. I now have 2 major credit cards and the 2 GE cards so I am not applying for anything else but I was curious how many different cards you can have with them. I have noticed here in the forum that there is alot of love for them and that people have several accounts with them that seems to play a big role in the rebuilding process.

I noticed the same thing and built my app spree last week around them since my myFICO TU score was 697 which is significantly higher than my EQ FICO and any EX FAKO I've ever seen for me. I was approved for 4--Walmart $1000, Lowe's $500, Amazon $800 and JCP $200--within a matter of 15 minutes. Clearly by the end of the spree they were getting tired of hearing from me since the JCP had a $200 limit, but I was more than content with the results. I chose cards I would use since it seems silly to me to get cards for stores I never shop at--I would have to go out of my way to show use on the card. So, at least 4 is possible, though I think the actual answer is several cards higher. I've heard that the total limit across all cards that they allow is somewhere over $100K, for what it's worth.

@SnowKitty ive seen aome people here with 8 or so GE cards.

Did you get the paypal smart connect offer after your paypal MC denial?

Also after a few apps around the same time they'll just begin flat out denying you. I've heard its around 3-4 but I would say it differs based on your own reports.

I don't remember seeing anything about a smart connect offer. When I was on my paypal account, it had a link to apply for the paypal mastercard and when I applied, it came up an instant denial and they said I should receive a reason within 4 days. I assume they email it to me? What is the smart connect?

* I have a bill me later account linked with my paypal account. I was approved for that a few days ago. Is that basically the same thing as the smart connect?

I have 5 accs with them(I believe) and know someone with 7 and no problem. I no big limits though, 5k max for me with them.

I have 4 GE accounts, Amazon store (17 months, 2.5k) , Walmart store (10 months, 1.7k) , Sam's club(2 months, 800), paypal extras MC (1 month, 2k). They don't like it when you get more than a couple accounts a day. They are very friendly with CLI's every 4 months or so if you wait 6 months you usually get auto-cli's. Biggest problem with GE cards is that they are very addictive CLI's rock but how many cards do you need especially since most have no rewards beyond 0 percent financing deals.

I have not gotten the GE cards yet...they should arrive today or tomorrow. So is there a GE website where you can manage and pay all your accounts with them online? I see where I can set one up via amazon but I don't have any account numbers yet. I didn't know if they are all connected on the website or not.

Wow! So did you apply for a few in the beginning and then they started offering you other cards or have you been at this a while and slowly applied for all of them? When I was filling out apps with them, most of the cards I would never use but I would have liked to get the Old Navy card. I saw that they are who backs carecredit and I may need that in the future beings I have no health insurance so I thought I should not apply for anything else with them. (especially since they declined the paypal app just a few days after they approved the walmart and amazon.

@SnowKitty paypal smart connect is similar to Bill Me Later, BML is a hidden tradeline though and doesn't report. PPSC can be hooked up to a paypal debit card and reports lile a revolving line of credit. They use it as a counteroffer similar to how you can get a visa/mastercard/discover/amex or a store card. Only difference is ppsc can be used anywhere you can use your paypal debit card. Its just very slow with payments and stuff. You also earn 1% cash back with the paypal debit card.

and my newly aquired Amazon.com Store Card with a $1,000 CL.

I dunno why that was is much lower than my other GE issued cards...probably b/c it isn't mainly a furniture store. LOL.

GE has ALWAYS turned me down for APR decreases.
However, yesterday a CSR in India for my Paypal MC told me to write a letter with an apr reduction request to have them consider it.

Hmmm weird. Guess I'll try that? That's the only GE card that I don't PIF. I owe $1,800/$7,000 :-( lol

BUT I KNOW the csr's at GE can credit you back a month of interest ;-) prob no more thab once or twice a year:-/

They have couple levels with MC or what not sometimes... but store cards by GE... I don't know of any of them to have different APR's over time.

I have the WalMart, Amazon and Paypal. I think JCPenny is GE and i have them too.
