How Long GE Apps Remain in System?

Briefing: A month ago, I applied for two GE backed cards, specifically Amazon and Walmart to be exact. However, I was declined both, citing I believe a "recent collections account", as well as a high utilization rate. Since then, I've worked and had the "recent collections account" which provided invalid data REMOVED from two of my three reports, the third is in pending for another 10 days.

On that note, I also have a defaulted credit card dating from 2006 that was sold off to a third-party collector. However, that third party collector, like others, was removed 2-3 years ago citing insufficient informaton. However, a "high balance" is still being reported on the defaulted credit card in the amount of $6xx. Here is where the utlization comes into play. I only have a $1,200 credit limit on my active card that was opened in November, with two months of on-time payments.

I also have one successful installment account on file that was paid off in 2010.

Overall, with a thin file, I have two questions.

1. How long does a GE application remain active in the system?

2. If the application is still potentially in the system, what's the likelyhood of an approval?

As a side note, after the removal of the recent collections account, my score rose by about 15 points to 665.

I think its for 30 days (someone correct me if im wrong). If you can afford the hit, make sure your credit report is updated first and then apply again.

I'm contemplating whether or not to take the hit, but the utilization is deterring me a bit. I wanted to wait about a month, but I'm not completely sure yet. May just wait a month but was curious about how long it takes in regards to the app remaining in the system.

I was told by the underwriter that you can reapply in 30 days of your last app. What are your scores now?

That's not true you could apply more than once in 30 day, make sure transunion is clean and after you apply call the GE Credit Verification 866-246-4282 they will ask you if they could send a text to your phone for verification then most likely you with be approved, I have been approved for 28 new account in the last 12 month its all about backdoor # and what to tell them.

Totally off topic here but wow...I thought I was holding the record with my 15 new accounts in 6 months! Looks like I'm behind :D!

No seriously, after what I've done in 2012 I will be in garden mode for ALL of 2013!

Tran...I don't have an updated score, OFFICIAL, but my FAKO (CK) went up by 11 points from 642 to 653. When my FAKO was 642, my official TU was 652. So my guess would be around 660-665 is where my new score should be.

joshy: What do you mean by clean? And what were your scores when you applied and called the number. Sounds a bit too simple to just call a number and have a SMS sent for verification and be approved, unless you have immaculate scores.

my creditkarma score is 638 AND all i do is apply to see if i get the 5 to 7 days massege and call backdoor # and talk to them with GE if you get a ref # just call the credit underwriter and talk to them

@youngmoney06 this # 1-800-379-4936 work for all GE CARDS FOR CLI and this # 866-246-4282 IS for GE credit approval

i tell the underwriter that i need it to take avantage of financing offers or i needed for utl, the best way is to how a balance every month and pay in full or 50% of it after the statement is send that way they see that you are using the card, if you pay in full before the statement than they will think that you are not using the card...

@JENNYLOCHA all of the cap one where HSBC, KOHLS, BESTBUY AND SOME OTHER COMPANY SO THEY SHOW UP AS CAPONE ON CREDIT REPORT

My main reason for applying is for utilization purposes. Having only $1.2k as a credit limit is hard to maintain a balance with. Even then, ageing one account would be defating the purpose of having 2-3, right?
