Citi Forward changes continue

After being upgraded to Visa Sig and an EMV chip, it appears Citi is trying to do even more to make this an elite card. I just received an email from them offering 5x points on gas, groceries, drugstores, and commuter expenses (?) on the card from now through 3/31. However, it does say earn up to 2,500 additional points through 3/31, so it does seem to be capped very low. Still, the changes keep coming in, and $25 a quarter is a nice bonus. Normally I would be concerned with dilution of card benefits, but Citi seems to keep making this card even better!

Maybe I should app for this card before they raise the credit standards for it ;) (planning on apping for it in June)

Also just noticed that they removed the limit on the number of points you can earn per year as of 9/2012. I've always used it exclusively for restaurant, movie theatre, and bookstore (I buy a bunch on Amazon) purchases. It might start taking away some of the general spend from my PRG with all these changes and offers.

Duncanrr, I haven't seen the card on their site since they started making these changes. The only Forward I am currently seeing on the site is the student version.

I received this email too. Doesn't it get 5x points for Netflix, Hulu and others. Also, doesn't it get points on rhapsody?

I got the card in December '09 as an MTVU Student card. No credit history aside from 1.5 years of student loans, only $6k in income, and they offered me a $4k limit. About a year or year and a half ago they upgrade me to the regular Forward without a request on my part. After graduating and getting a good job, I asked for a CLI last Semptember and was bumped to $5.5k on a soft pull. Now they've made a whole host of upgrades this past week without a request from me. Talk about growing with you!

I also got 5% cash back on eligible purchases on my Cash Returns Mastercard.

I just tried on a nerdwallet link and the app page for it is down. Only the student version is up. I hope it didnt get the axe.

Duncan, if you really want to app it might be worth a shot to call Citi and see if you can app over the phone.

I have not gotten any of these changes. Maybe it's because I have the student version? I've had the card over a year now... I wonder if there's a way to change it to the regular Forward since I'm no longer a student.

Wow! I got my Signature, but I haven't gotten an email about the new categories for points. I hope I get one - could really use points on drugstores and commuter expenses (if the NYC MTA counts???).

I have the student version as well, but I just received the email! I'm guessing we all get it Student version and regular!

No Signature here. I'm going to try requesting a replacement card in hopes that spurs them to consider it. Who knows.

I responded to paper mailings, one is a student card, one the normal version. I didn't think I'd get both... they were my first credit cards.
