Just got preapproved for FHA!

I just wanted to let everyone who is struggling with credit rebuilding issues, past mistakes, etc. to know to stay the course because when you do the right things, the rewards are fantastic.

After three 1/2 years of credit rebuilding, I was just pre-approved for an FHA loan and will be building a new home, scheduled to close in late August/early Sept.

I can honestly say that my faith was put to the test throughout this process - we wanted a home so badly, to provide long-term security for our daugher, that it was almost becoming an "idol", distracting me from all the other many blessings God has given me in my life.

I also owe thanks to many in this forum who have encouraged me over the last 2 months. Your words of wisdom and sage advice were invaluable in helping me keep going!

For those looking for comparisons of the myFICO scores to lender pulls. Here are mine:

myFICO: EQ 658 TU 694 EX ????

Lender Pull 4/30/12: EQ 658 (same) TU 710 (+16) EX 710

Thanks Sewmuchdebt and congrats to you, too! I feel like I should add to this thread that my starting score was around 529. I say "around' because it was a FAKO -but still, you see how far we've come. Keep the faith!

YES!!! HE is. I am glad your life is turning out for the best. This is a second chance at getting it right. Trust me, I too been down on my knees. Now, my credit is good...going through an FHA myself. Let just say, I am more humble than before. I am just glad, to not be the same person that I was 2 years ago.

when i joined my fico 3yrs ago. I felt like i WAS the last rung on the totem pole. there were so many people here willing to give their advice and insight for free to help someone like me get back on the right credit track. you have ups and downs and curves along the way, but if you just stay the course, your finish line will eventually come and whatever is waiting for you at the finish line: a new house, new car, new job, new credit card, being debt-free, more time with the family, is totally worth it! congrats to everyone who is on their way to their finish line!!

This is just a friendly reminder of the 5 things we don't talk about on the FICO Forums, one of which is religion. In our (the moderators') experience, we have discovered that these topics, unfortunately, become lightning rods for non-credit-related discussion, stir up strong emotions, and invite sarcastic comments. More often than not, these result in hostile exchanges and the deletion of entire threads.

We're fine with spontaneous expression of faith (e.g. "Thank God!"), but when a thread's title is religious testimony and when the discussion becomes less about credit and more about religion, then we have to rein it in. There are already warning signs that this discussion is going to stray from the relevant mortgage topic.

I apologize; I certainly wasn't trying to be a rule breaker. I do find it sad that the mere mention of God or faith is enough to stir people into a frenzy. :smileytongue:

That's not the case. Like I already said, spontaneous expressions of faith are okay and rarely result in any problems. Your original title contained no reference to your mortgage and to anyone scanning the topic list, it would appear to be nothing more than a discussion about religion.

And as you have illustrated - "I do find it sad..." - this is an emotional topic for many people, which is exactly the reason why certain topics cannot be discussed.

$290,000 @ 3.75% rate. Credit Score: ~760/749

Congrats to you, too! My rate is the same...but the FHA max here is $271,050.
