Just got an alert my score dropped..don't know why?!?

I signed up for SW (apparently I did the free trial thing, which I wish I hadn't..I need SC for a while not looking to cancel soon) and in the last week or so got 3 medical collections deleted and one late day payment deleted so I was obviously expecting a score alert..but of an increase not a decrease! If anything, it could stay the same, but an increase?!?! I have no idea why this happened as everything else is taken care of. I called the cust rep to see if we could figure out why and she said I'd have to buy a new report. No changes were detected in the monitoring, it says everything is the same, so I really don't know what else to do.

I was feeling desperate so I bought FICO quarterly Monitoring to see another report and the report looks the same as my first one...which by the way, looks imcomplete when I compare it to the one I got from annual credit report.

Somebody help!!! Score went from 649 to 619

Perhaps the deletions decreased your average account age or utilization percentage increased.

I don't think so. The deletions were all medical collections. :( 30 points is A LOT

I was so excited about having taken care of those and now I'm worse than when I started.

Why won't SW give me a reason? Would it be because I'm still on free trial? That will change Monday....

Did you try looking at the "Credit Alerts" tab on Alert history?

Also, I've read that sometimes collection agents re-age accounts. The information on your report may look the same but something like date of last activity may have changed.

I did look under there. I'm guessing because I'm still under the 10 day trial they're not showing me the changes that caused this to drop. I guess the only thing to do is wait until Monday and either I'll have access to those details of the score drop in SC or I'll use my second report to see what's going on.

SW will not list the specific changes that occurred to your report [ETA...though it'll sometimes list specific changes, but not dropped baddies]. It'll only give a general idea within the alert and that always isn't the exact cause for the point change. Basically SW is good for FICO score alerts and score changes, plus you get two FICO reports with that with any future reports at 30% off. In between ordering reports, you'd only get general ideas for those changes. Many of us subscribe to a CMS outside of SW so as to pull new reports as needed.

Per a drop, and copying others, it could be changes in util, a changed baddie, drop in AAoA, disputes often result in score drops, rebucketing, etc.

Hey! How did you know I'd get good news?!? I got another alert from SW yesterday, I went to check it out and my score increased 17 points..it's still lower than when I started Besides the score increase, SW also alerted me of the balances going up on:

--$50 on an old collection account (that is supposed to be in dispute) I DV'd them and they haven't responded...Asset Acceptance

--$14.95 on my only credit card--Capital One-----This last one, though is showing up twice for some weird reason...

Lol...I have connections. Sorry you didn't get all your points back, but if you keep doing what you're doing, over time you will. It's the long haul that you're in this for. Don't forget to reset your target score. :)

Congrats on the point increase, any points are good points:smileyhappy:

I'm willing to bet the Cap1 showing two times is because in your settings you have it set to alert you of a $ balance increase and a balance % increase (or it's just that way default) I always get two listings for one card as well.

More great news!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My score went up from 632 to 680!!!!!!!!!!! I don't know why but I'm dying to buy a new report. I would if I wasn't expecting more changes soon but I just resolved an issue with a collection agency that was on my credit report. I was able to prove an account was paid in full from 2007 only yesterday so that should be coming off in the next weeks or so. it should have never been sent to a collection agency. I asked for debt validation because I really had no idea what it was from. They sent very detailed information and I went through it, remembered we paid it, went online and printed the check we used to pay that back in 2007 and mailed it to them right away. :)

700's here I come :))

Thanks Barry! I'm afraid I have bad news and need some help..I don't know where to go from here.

The account that was supposed to come off, the one we had proof we paid, is not coming off afterall.

They were saying we owed $90.76 ($60.82+$29.94 interest).

We paid 42.13 of those $60.82 back in 2007 before this account went to collections. We don't know what the $18.69 was for but nonetheless we are willing to pay it.

actually, I was willing to pay the $90 just to have it off the report, without even knowing what it was for. So I sent them a PFD in January which they agreed to, if we paid the $90.76 by Feb 19, 2012. In the meantime, I found out we paid the bill so we mailed proof..took quite a bit of time since all they do is mail, no faxes. Obviously I get a letter dated Feb 22, stating that we now only owe $18.69, we MUST pay by March 10th and it WILL NOT come off the report!?!?!!!?

I am so frustrated. I know it's only $18 dlls and am so inclined to just pay it and be done with it BUT the fact that they are not willing to delete it from the CR is bugging me. it almost seems like they won't delete it because I was right and we had paid them.

This should have never gone to collections anyway but talking to them is like talking to a wall. One of their reps now says they'll delete it when they receive payment in full..I don't trust them, though so I asked for a letter and she says they don't send PFD letters (they sent me one dated 1/3012) and she says that was an offer that expired 2/19/12...really??????????? Why be so difficult??

What should I do? This is an old account from 2007, I don't know how much of an increase I'll get if deleted but it should have never been there to begin with. I thought this was resolved..ughhhh

She also said "THE ACCOUNT WILL REMAIN IN A DISPUTED STATUS AS REQUIRED BY LAW"

BTW, statute of limitations is up..4 years..and is scheduled to come off the report November 2013.

We're trying to buy a house by the end of this year, though :(

:smileysad:I'm sorry to hear that this CA is being such a pain to work with, but it's not surprising at all, I have read a lot of posts here from Members saying the same exact thing as you are saying, first they tell you one thing, then the next time you talk to them they change their story completely, IMO, CA's are like sharks.

I'd go ahead and pay the remaining balance, at least by the time you go for a mortgage that CA should be updated to paid, which a mortgage lender will want to see anyway, and just maybe you can be persistant enough and they will remove this TL from your reports.
