UPDATE MIDLAND SUCCESS!!!

I know there are a bunch of posts on here about Midland (some by me), about how difficult it is to get a response from them. Most of the people that DO get a response end up with a flat out "NO!".

This has happened to me twice. The first was by fax. They mailed me a generic "NO" by snail mail. I then emailed a contact and he asked me to call them back only to tell me that it is against their policy to remove. I was so angry that I said that I know for a fact that they make exceptions, so I am confused as to why they won't even consider my request. He said bascially said what BadCreditBen mentioned in a previous post, but more vaguely...."Sometimes we do make exceptions but your account doesn't fall off until 2015, so it is still too young of an account to be considered for a GW removal".

After the call ended, I emailed him again and pretty much said that this CA listing is ruining my life and that I hope that Midland would reconsider my offer. I expressed that since this was so important to me, I would fax, call, and email every day with the hopes that they would reconsider. (I figured that if they could call me 3 times a day while at work and at home to settle the debt, then I could do the same.)

So, I have done just that (except for the fax and phonecalls). Since then (last Thursday), I have emailed the CEO everyday, and two other contacts twice a day with the hopes of getting a different response. Finally the CEO emailed me back today (first time getting a response from him) only to say that he would be passing my request, a long with all of the other emails (lol), to the right people to handle it and that I should be hearing from them shortly.

I'm not sure if this is a good sign or just another dead end. Bloomingdales did this with me only to tell me again that they would not budge.

Sounds great..I hope all works out! I have 3 recent collections from Midland and this gives me a little ray of hope...would you mind sending me the e-mail you used?

I do wish you luck. I was very lucky with them. I spoke with a representative and he agreed to remove the settled account. It was off within 2 days of speaking with them. Keep trying, and I am sure you will have some luck.

Just an FYI with midland, there are only TWO people who work the goodwills..... A man and a woman, and i am sure most have spoken with them.

If anything discourages me about my repair..is that I have 3 collections with them and they are so durn hard to work with.

They are so hard to work with! It's a shame. On one hand I don't blame them. They don't have to remove, nor respond to a GW request.

But on the other hand, they have removed in the past, and do remove under certain circumstances, therefore they shouldn't be so tough. Even if their generic answer is no, if someone is repeatedly reaching out to them, I think they should consider.

If you paid, or settled, and they got their money, and their business with you is done, they should at least TRY to honor the GW and not give you the same scripted response.

I will update when and if I hear back from the "consume relations" team.

UPDATE!!!!

So, I've been periodically checking my email to see if someone was going to write me or call me to discuss the situation.

I didn't hear anything, but I ran home to pick up some paperwork I left, and saw that I had a letter from MCM in the mail. GREAT! Another rejection letter I thought.

But no.....SUCCESS!!!!

"Based on the information provided to us, we have instructed the three major credit reporting agencies to delete the above referenced MCM account from your credit file. Please be advised, our credit reporting does not affect any credit reporting of this account by the original creditor"

This was dated 12-30-11, so this was not due to my new 2 emails a day tactic.

On the 28th, a guy declined me on the phone, and yesterday, I recieved a letter with that date confirming this.

However, I emailed him again after the call on the 28th, and again on the 29th, and then Faxed a few different numbers. I'm not sure what worked, but I guess by the 30th, they decided to delete.

I am interested in two different things relative to Midland:

1. Did you approach MCM with a request to PFD? Did you pay in full, or a percentage? Was it after SOL?

2. Would you mind sharing with me the contanct person and information you used successfully to have MCM removed?
