Sallie Mae SUCCESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I contacted Sallie Mae's Office of the Consumer Advocate about 45 days ago and as of today's phone call they told me the 90 day late will be removed when reporting occurs at the end of the month! That's a "KEY DEROGATORY" on my account and showing with all three bureaus within the last year so I'm hoping to see a decent improvement in scores across the board. Just want to say thanks to everyone who has put the information out there and want to say that the people at the Advocate's office are very good at what they do!

Any idea on what this may do to my scores?!?!?

A 90 day late seems to be a heavy derog and since it happened last year I'm guessing you'll get a bit of a boost, was this your only baddie? BTW congrats!!!

CONGRATS!! :smileyhappy: PLEASEEE tell me how you were able to get this taken care of! I have 2 Sallie Mae accounts reporting 3 late payments each...I called them & they didn't assist. I emailed them @ the customer advocate address as well...they have not responded yet. From what I've read, you should have a nice improvement in your score..keep us posted!

dang! good job. I tried the same thing and a lady called me and told me since my loans were a federal loan they cant change the lates

That's easy... simply by removing every major derog you have on your reports.

I talked to a sallie mae advocate,too, and she says because everything IS correctly reporting they can't get rid of it. There must have been something OP's advocate had to go on to remove it.

Congrats!!!!! That's GREAT news! I also was able to get sallie Mae to delete a 90 day late and a 120 day late from dec and jan! My lowest score at the time was 556, it's now 600! I haven't checked my other scores which I hope will be at least 620 :)

I am a co-signer for my brother, and when he lost his job, he let the bill slip wo me knowing. This is one of the only late pays on my account.. HELP!. Can you pm me the info on who to call and what key points helped you get them to remove it ? Thanks a million!

IDK if you guys are getting the PM's of info, but if you're not, just google "Credit Advocate Sallie Mae" and call that number. They will put you in touch with whoever's caseload you fall on. It takes some time to find the info, but it can be done, and calling the 1800 number for sallie is USELESSSSSSS
