You need to spend some time and money IMMEDIATELY and hire a lawyer to sue this company and process server for FRAUD/MALICIOUS PROSECUTION, Etc. take the time and do this...It will be well worth it in the end. You cannot and should not let these people get away with these types of actions. Get the papers filed ASAP, and do NOT drop this matter; you will win in the end, and try and recover all your costs in the process. Good luck!

I say this was a smart move Rudy, especially since you were able to transfer your closed card's limit to another Amex card, thereby keeping your available credit the same, but reducing a trade line, per the Equifax recommendation. Rest assured you did well.

I also was recently approved and today I recieved my Hooters MC today (after the "7 - 10 days" reply), with a credit limit of $5,200. I was quite surprised with the limit since I have a high utilization on all my other credit cards at the present, but my FICO score was hovering around 700. It does seem like a uniquely named credit card, but since it seemed so easy to get, I figured I would go for it, and now I am quite happy with this card and its generous limit!

From what you said I think your FICO scores are excellent, considering your 2004 bankruptcy...so congratulations on your scores. Regarding raising your present FICO scores, you NEED to have credit to rebuild your credit. I strongly advise you to immediately get at least one more credit card for your file, and since I know they pull TU, I suggest you apply for a Juniper card (they also seem to appear BK friendly). Remember, your credit card debt utilization is 35% of your FICO score, so you need to have credit cards, and use them (but keep their balances down between 1%-9%)! Good luck!

Please DO NOT DO ANYTHING until after you go to closing on your home. After closing, then you can consider combining your CapitalOne accounts into one card and possibly closing another account if the fees are too high. Then you can try and obtain credit line increases on your other credit accounts. As your FICO score increases you will be able to obtain better credit cards, but this process will take time, so please be patient. Good luck!

At this time, I say go for it and get the Amex card. While the hard inquiry may initially hurt you, the available credit will raise your utilization, thereby helping to raise your FICO scores. Just explain to your auto lender that you jumped at the opportunity to get an Amex card recently and that should explain away your recent unquiry just before buying a car.

Here is the bottom line...In my own opinion, if you have a high utilization of your credit card debt and you REDUCE that utilization of credit card debt to below 9%, you are going to see a significant increase in your FICO scores - period. This is a fact simply because your credit card utilization represents 35% of your FICO scores. Therefore, significantly reducing your close-to-maxed-out credit card debt (whether immediately or over several months seems to be irrelevent) will cause a hugh increase in your FICO scores. Good luck and go for it!
