Milking the market. It costs about $10 to produce each chipped card vs pennies otherwise apparently. So why not generate interest in your premium products before introducing it to the others.

Over 2.7% I know people make a big deal but you need to be spending a lot outside the country for it to really be significant. I got my plat mostly for the fringe benefits (oh and the sign up bonus convinced me I guess;). I have other cards with better rewards and no FTF at this point. Slightly disappointed that it's not chip/pin which would make it truly useful and my primary intl card when I make it to Europe next. Step in the right direction though. It's coming Tues. rep also said that they were planning some changes that he's excited about, he didn't elaborate though.

I called Platinum cust svc, and after being on hold for about 10 mins while the rep researched the "process" I was informed that Nov 21'st is the date that it will be available to all Platinum card holders. It might be available to Cents now, so if anyone has one mayb they can chime in.

I was referring to the customer service experience that comes along with it as well. A 2% back card is not a bad deal, unless you want to use the points for hotels or business/first class airfare etc. It still doesn't hold a candle to US bank, penfed, and one of the newest citi thank you offers, in my opinion, but either way... I'm interested to hear more about the experience of prime card holders though and how it differs. It seems we don't get too posts about that.

Capital one and prime is a bit of a joke... they can't really compete with the best cards out there. I suppose the saving grace being that they have no ftf's on the no AF cards, but those also don't have chips and can be a hassle (pun intended) overseas. I'm pre-selected for all the prime cards after cancelling all of the subprime ones in one fell swoop. Ironic but I don't think I'm interested. They're just quite up to par with other offers and their system/customer service is lacking. Whether that's improved for the prime cards is a great question....I've heard rumors to the contrary, but perhaps for CLI's.

What sort of fraud was taking place? I have this card, great for the insurance benefits, not sure whether or not I'll hit 100k for this bonus this year though. The card is obviously geared for cpc/pb, so that being as it is might as well be a good enough reason. Another interesting point... Normally when I pay the bill I get an alert from JP Morgan card services, last night that alert came from Chase fwiw. Same company but an interesting datapoint.

Zync is a great card for frequent diners like me (zync+prg killer combo if you travel a lot). I'd be sad to see it go. On that note I just signed into the zync pack store and it's all kinds of messed up...

Have to wonder what they're up to these days. Bonus mall is own, they just completely revamped the travel site (with the exception of the terrible FHR interface).

Don't get around to commenting on too many posts, just too busy these days. But it's situations like these that renew my faith in humanity. Now as for your question. You'll need to get it paid off first. Do that, wait a couple weeks and send a goodwill letter to Amex to remove the entries on your report (if they're still there. I'd say you have a 90% shot. Then app for a charge card (zync is easiest but I wouldn't be too concerned), you may be declined; it takes a month sometimes for their system to lower your risk score sufficiently (reflecting the payment) ... Though you should be deblacklisted right away. If you're declined then recon, they may ask you to fax a credit report to "media". If they do it will result in a hp. Wait 6 months and apply for a credit card. I doubt you need to put 200k in their bank, and if they did ask for something like that it would probably be more on the lines of 10k, which they have done for some gold card applicants in the past. It's a bit unnecessary and overkill to move that much into their so-so cd's unless maybe you plan on running large amounts through right away. Their bank and lending are two separate entities. While it could help you obtain a card it has less to do with your risk score. Although you would have some leverage were they to demand tax returns. Hope this helps.

Actually it's the other way around. I made numerous purchases through that mall and the majority since March never posted. Called Amex and the researched it, call me up at least a couple weeks later and the lady apologized, gave me the points + an addl 5000 MR for my trouble and... The real shocker... She then sent me a hand addressed letter with her business card attached thanking me for my business. The points not posting issue was a very common occurrence (huge thread on flyertalk) so I would imagine they took it down to re-do the whole thing.

That's your best bet, or apparently with the PD you can call the concierge. Unless you're flying first or have status with united iirc those are the only ways to get access. Or buy a standard priority pass (per visit or unlimited $99-$399).

Lounge pass was created after united left priority pass for people with PP issued via financial institutions. Unfortunately lounge club lost more than just united. Inferior product (I have both). Lounge pass comes with my Ink Bold as well. The PD folks have been buying united and Delta memberships for customers outright. And also often match other amex benefits according to the folks on flyertalk. Just my 2c.

This is true, though neither is the platinum.. I'm planning a lot of intl travel and the idea of being able to pretty much lock up my other cards (no cash adv fees etc) while I'm out for the day is enticing. I have also heard that the concierge is more responsive. I've had some very hit and miss experience with amex... I've almost always had to do a lot of legwork myself (eg a surprise restaurant outing for my cousin and her husband in Phoenix)... things that multiple concierge reps told me were impossible I managed just fine with several calls. Do they assign a dedicated concierge that I can email while abroad?
