That makes sense but she was just told by the CA that he would send her a PIF letter and she would have to go to the OC to get it deleted.

Is what he telling her just plain wrong? What you're saying it seems like it.

Thanks for the info guys. My gf is on the phone with them right now. She's told me twice "go get my debit card" -_- both times I've told her she needs it in writing so I don't now why she asked the second time.

Anyway I hope they'll take it off. I don't see any reason they wouldn't. Expecially if I'm paying it in full. I think it's worth their while.

So me and my gf are in the middle of trying to buy a house. Well a few days ago a collection popped up from AT&T on my gfs CR. We've been aware of it but thought it was already on her CR and we've tried to pay it before but it's more difficult than building a rocket. Stayed on hold at least an hour each time we called.

Anyway the company is Enhanced Recovery Company. I know a little about things like PFD but I'm a little unsure. Do I try to make a deal with them and pay only a portion or is just paying it in full going to help me out? I don't mind paying it in full. Expecially if it will help for them to take it off.

Has anybody had any experience with this company?

Oh and also my gfs mom wants us to just pay AT&T but that doesn't meant they'll remove it from collections right?

Well I called and the rep was a little strange. Not as nice as usual. I asked her and she took a few seconds to say anything and just say "no it looks like yours wasn't converted". I find it odd though since it seems like if I would have waited about a week to apply I would have gotten the signature. It's just a little disappointing. I'm gonna call back and ask why I wasn't and just what exactly they're doing with this whole thing. It seems as simple as just having a CLof 5k or more, which I have.

Yeah from what I've read a paid collection is basically no different than an unpaid. So is PFD just basically paying for the balance and then having them delete. I know I'd have to get them to agree to delete it before I pay but is it something that happens pretty often?

So my gf has a collection on her account from ATT. I want pay it as soon as we can. Does it really make a difference in how soon we pay it though?

Also what are the chances that this could be deleted? From what I'm reading it seems like getting collections deleted isn't all that hard. She wants to buy a house soon and I know how this collection will hurt.

I can get info about what agency is and anything y'all need to know more about the situation.

I could be wrong but I don't think that you'll see the highest reported balance as 500 on your report unless that's the balance that reports. And it doesn't make a difference. Or it shouldn't. It could be that you had a higher limit at that time.

I will close the cap1 probably next year right before the AF comes up.

Razues I'd love to do that. The only thing stopping me is my lates. I do have a balance on NFCU, which really was a balance transfer from jcrew and ssfcu, that I'm paying over the next couple of months. All other cards will not have a balance. The lates would also be at their two year mark at about the time the card will be paid off.

How many cards should I have open? It's sort of a long story as to why I'm asking that I posted in the relationship section. My gf just doesn't like how many credit cards I have. I feel comfortable with them and don't plan on using them much. Anyway do y'all think I should close any? My information is as follows.

Open:

SSFCU 1k CL Opened 9/2009 APR 12%is

NFCU 5kCL Opened this month APR 15%ish

Capitalone Platinum(no rewards) 500CL Opened 06/2011 APR 19%ish

JCrew 930CL Opened 11/2011 APR 24.99%

CareCredit 500CL Opened 10/2011(Parvo sucks) 0 till june '13 on one purchase

Closed:

Citi Forward 500CL Opened 9/2009 and Closed about Oct 2010 by them.

Baddies on my credit:

60 days late and 90 days late from the citi. The 90 was actually from me making a payment but not realizing it wasn't the minimum.

All will be paid off tomorrow except for the NFCU. I know it will really only effect me util wise now.

I couldn't care less about carecredit. Only reason I'd need it is for an emergency and I've never heard of a 500 vet emergency.

I've gotten tired of Jcrew. Too expensive and i guess 25 back for every 500 spent is good but its per season. So I have 3 months to spend 500 for a measly 25 bucks and I don't get much for 500 there. Only thing I like about them is they did auto cli from 500 to 930 about 5 months ago. And the interest is so high so if something happens and I don't pif the 25 back is basically just paying for th interest and not anything extra.

I know it's different for everybody but what is the ideal number of cards to have open? And which one's do y'all think I should close.

GF problems

Really didn't know what to title this. Anyway me and my gf have been together 4 years and lived together about 2.5. Been together since hs. Both 21(My bday was monday. Spent a decent amount that week and I guess this is where that's coming. We both did though). That's our backround.

We also work at the same place with the same schedule and make the same money. We also have a checking account together. I take care of all the money. Not exactly cuz I want to but because she doesn't want to help. So I find myself in "trouble" when she wants to buy something and we don't have the money for it and then i basically have to let her buy it. I spend money we don't have too, I'm not saying I don't, but it's hard for one person to budget for two people.

Anyway she's not understanding that. We've tried for her to do the budget and make payments but I don't think she evens knows how to make a credit card payment and so I end up taking over again. For some reason she doesn't want to do it together.

We're working towards paying off about $3000 in the next few months. It's going well so far but I'm stressing myself out realizing it might not work out as planned and I get in "trouble" again that I have credit cards. Whenever she talks to her family, which if I got into her family I'd write a book, she says "Brandon has to pay of his credit cards..." even though she spends on them too their apparently only mine. I'm the only one that overspends.

I guess I'm just venting that she won't go 50/50 on this with me and curious if anybody else has to deal with it and how they might deal with it. She literally never worries about it and ALL I do is worry about it. I also get a lot of crap about how my aunt has started to charge me insurance. She was paying for it when we were living at a house and paying rent but when we moved out I told my aunt i could help her out and so now my aunt asks for $115/month and my gf is SOOO upset about it. "We made a deal that she'd pay so why is she going back on it?"

She's also against using CCs at all. She wants us to close all the cards and use debit. I've realized credit is better and then PIF and I've learned a lot of self control from these forums. It feels great to pay a card in full every month like I've been doing with our cards lately(still owe on one card). I have 5( 2 CU, 1 Capone, Carecredit, Jcrew) and she has 1. I'm comfortable with where I'm at. I never spent more than about 200 at a time on the jcrew until she offered to buy her brother clothes and I kind of thought well I might as well too. Don't use carecredit, hate capitalone cuz it does nothing for me, and one of my CU cards does nothing either but it's my oldest card. My other CU card is NFCU cashrewards so I want to use it and PIF but she doesn't see any benefit. Does anybody want to reply and give reasons of why it's better to use a credit card and just pif to prove it to her? haha My ultimate goal is Amex BCP.

Her goal is a house and I keep telling her that it's gonna be a crappy rate with the credit history that she has.

Thanks for reading.

Sorry I should have been more clear. I really just mean credit card. A car loan is debt but in my head I just don't consider it that. Like I wouldn't consider a phone bill or cable bill debt. It's just a bill. Different I know but still.

I know the definition but I guess I mean what amount of debt do you feel comfortable with having out? I'm on track to paying everything off by at least mid November. I was hoping by mid October but looking at the numbers now I'm not sure. I've been paying off(between me and my gf) 500 every 2 weeks. It's just exhausting being broke all the time though.

I just have this thing about me that I hate oweing people. I still feel like I have to pay someone back from freshman year in hs. haha

So should I get down to totally zero or should I be comfortable at a small balance of about 500 on one card and take time to pay it off without stress? It would be my nfcu 5k Cl card that would carry the balance.

@Olegwashere yeah creditkarma was at like 610 before which would have been the same time NFCU said I had a 630 which was a TU score. So hopefully my score has jumped to about a 650 but obviously I'd only know if I bought it.

@android01 Yeah I plan on it. I've only asked for a CLI on my CU card once in the whole 3 years I've had it. I think I'll try for one more cli from them and call it quits for a year. I just want to do it now if I'm going to since I just appd for nfcu.
