For my profile, highest score is attained at zero balance. i lose less points going from less than 1%, to 1%, 2-5%, to 10%, than i do from 0% to less than 1%. I know the guy tracking his score when his balance changes over at "Otherboard" lost points going from les than 1% to no balance.

it can change as your history grows and your bucket changes.

For me, right now, a singlle card, even with a 1% balance, gives me a lower score than zero cards with a balance-about 5-7 points difference. a sub 1% balance is worth about a point more than 1%.

over 5% on a single card would give me even less points(only a couple more points)

Wonder what it is that makes BOA decide whether or not to Drop the AF or keep it after graduation, they're being a little inconsistent on this lately.

What worked for me was calling the Backdoor Number; i first tried to lose the AF when i went for a cli after a 2-month early graduation-they told me not now, and to call back after the card was a year old. I also asked an online rep-they said there was no way they could do it, it is tied to the original terms and can't change; you can close and apply for a new card.

After a year was up, i waited for the AF to show up, then i called again (i think i used the # on the card). That guy said he didn't have the power to do anything; so i elevated-the guy came back and said the supervisor would let him waive the fee for the year. But my terms meant it would still be charged every 12 months. next day i had 39.00 credit

I waited two more statements, and called the backdoor number. Right off the bat i explained my situation-the BOA was my oldest card, gets used the most, and seems like a good long term card-but i don't forsee hanging on to it for too much longer in the future if i have to keep paying the AF. The guy didn't fuss, just told me he'd put in a request to have the fee supressed. Next morning i went to check my account fee online, it changed from 39.00 to Zero. i requested a mailed copy of my terms just to make sure, sure enough, no reference to the annual fee anymore.

The regular CSR are usually not going to be much help with BOA.

yep-depending on issuer it may report within days of approval, before the card ever gets in your hands(GE and barclays are known for that) or after the first statement(just about everyone else). Either way, you will likely see an account open date that is prior to you actually getting the card in the mail

So barclays was concerned about ALL accounts from 2012... 2 are from august(9 months), 1 from december(5 months), all the rest (4)are over a year. There was no activity in 2013 at all besides the same day Citi app(which was on reports they didnt look at).

So my status for the apps changed from pending to "nope." I;m not sure if the first call really counts a recon or not since it was from a non-decision to a decision-i think ill give it 1 more go and then leave em alone for a few more months. NFL was the most important for now because that 20K first use bonus is oldddd(older than the dead 40K/1000 bonus), but the link still works and i dont know if itll be there next time i'm ready to make a run at barclays.

Yesterday i apped for Citi TY preferred with the 5X bonus gas/grocery/drugstore, instant approved for 4.5K. I Want to get an even 5K but they said ill have to wait for the card to come to try to bump it :/ Unfortunately the difference between 3 and 4 inquiries on my EQ report is worth 16 points(yep even way down here in the 700-730 range)...so if they need to do a new sp/hp that a pretty significant drop from the score when i first apped. Guess ill just wait the 6 months or whatever.

Also, they pulled EQ and EX on me(disclosure score based on EQ)-15 months ago when i apped with 6 months history and 5 inqs within that period and 2 brand new reporting accounts that month, they only pulled EQ

.

Also apped for barclays NFL $200 first use, Priceline. Showed up as different inquiries on TU yesterday, merged into one when i checked again today. Pending both and i have to wait til monday to call em up :/

Discover got me a SP cli from 3500 to 4000. I wanted 5K but that was all the computerd wanted to do without a HP; so i took it.

So overall pretty decent; could become pretty good or pretty meh depending on barclays

updated below

well, i was weighing my options-I could have waited until the start of june to see how my scores would look with no accounts under 6 months....but i decided to step out right now since the new account ding usually lessens within 3 months, and in 3 months i hit 2 years credit history. Got the TY Preferred 5x gas/grocery/drugstores(12 months) at $4500...they basically went with my average (4.4K without the TYP) Ill see if i can't wring $500 more out of them. Contrast to US Bank, last app 5 months ago; which gave me my cash+ and beat my previous highest limit with 9 inqs in the last year and a sub 700 score.

Also called in and got discover to SP increase me $500; the computer countered my request of 1500. started at 3500, wanted 5K, got 4K. already took a HP to go 1K to 3.5K last october(no sp counter)
