Ok so today i requested the 3x CLI from 2k to 6k. i got a message that said i will get a letter in 7 - 10 days. The lady on the phone told me i will get an email and ill be able to check the status of my request. Is this normal? This is my first AMEX and first CLI attempt. Shed some light guys!

Thanks in advance!

GregB wrote:

That is completely irresponsible nonsense about HP/Compaq for what "you heard". I went out of my way in my post to not name brands other than suggesting an iMac might make sense for his use but after hearing that unsubstantiated nonsense about what you heard about HP, I must respond. If there is one company that stands out for computer support on PCs and Servers, it is HP. When I have to build a bulletproof system, it generally ends up 98% HP.

At one point we were selling and supporting enough computers that I was spending close to a million dollars a year on computers. Now we are down to buying around 5 computers a week and it is hard to get a customer to upgrade their servers at all. In fact one company has been bought twice with each new buyer deciding that all the computer equipment became "new" when they purchased the company and don't want to replace "new" equipment. They operate 24x7 relying on a HP LS2 Server that I installed in 1996 as their PDC.

First of all, i said ive had first hand experience with hp and compaq. They are crap. The reason people get them is because they are cheap. Dell is a great brand. I guess if your buying cheap dells then sure they wont stand up to the more expensive models and thats why they are cheap. Most of the crappy Dell models are ones outfitted with AMD parts too. Maybe HP stepped there game up some but really they should stick to printers. Obviously you dont need great computers? i dont know what you do for a living but all day everyday im sitting in my office and most of the time hearing clients ask why there HP is working. Ive probably worked on 500 HP laptops alone and half of them have **bleep** video cards. I dont beleive whoever is buying servers from you actually need them? Does HP ever make servers anymore? Idk if ive been to a server room and didnt see Dell servers or Cisco blades. And to your comment and building a bulletproof system i believe you, if i had to use an HP machine i would build it myself. Bottom line, from first hand experience and from HP horror storie, they are garbage and Compaq is the Walmart version of HP owned by the same people.

Very cheap and no pride for there product. 32/64bit is the operating system. 32bit is less of a resource hog and 64bit is just more for application based machines. My ideal setup IS overkill. i have that setup and dont use half of the resources and im an IT technician lol.

Honestly go with Dell. Sony is more expensive and its really just for the name. Dell is a great brand too with great support. They have great prices on qaulity machines.

If i were you i would just close that card. First of all they dont need your business. Them not allowing you to do a product change is completely up to them. You sound like you think you deserve it or are entitled to one but guess what its up to them. Stop complaining and close the card. Im sure you can get better cards, because you already have better cards. That letter you wrote made you sound arrogant so i am not surprised they said no because i would've done the same. Get over it and work on your other cards. Obviously if you are contacting the exec office you know how hard it is to get anything done with Cap1. if you look for the first thread about the Cap1 exec office it was started by me. I went through all the trouble to get an extra $1000. Its not worth it.

im helping her make the payments now and actually have both the cards. She is a single mom and entry level in her career so its tough sometimes for her to make the payments. The GAP card is backed by GE which sucks cause now she may not be able to get a GE backed card again. I think its weird that they closed it the comerica card because in september she paid $180 which is the most she paid all year and now she paid the $355 which gives her a $56 minimum. when i check online it says she has $666 available credit but the statement says the card is closed.

Hey everybody im helping my sister out who has not been so responsible with her credit. First off she has 2 cards 1 Comerica Bank card with a 2k CL and a Gap visa with a 2k CL.

Lets start with the Comerica Card. As of her september statement she owed $1,783.42 and the card was open. Up to september shes been late every payment since January and hasnt been making the minimum payment but she was making some payments. October comes and she pays the minimum payment of $355 which brings her balance down to $1,334.25 and new minimum payment to $56. Well she got her statement for October and says "Your account has been closed to further use of credit. If you still have cards in your possession, please cut them in half and return them to us."

I am focusing on the Comerica Card for now but basically the same situation with the GAP card. I want her to keep both but they both say closed.

My question is has anybody ever had a deliquent account re-opened after paying it? or is this a lost cause and im wasting my time trying to get these re-opened for her? I emailed the CEO of Comerica bank on my sisters behalf. we will see what happens with that. I just want some advice from you guys.

Cash out the 403b because it is such a small amount and she isnt contributing to it anymore. Even though 403b and 401k are safe from BK you dont want that alone to cause a BK because you didnt want to cash out the 403b. I hope this is understandable.

Also if she has a company match then she will be missing out on FREE money.

And for your question "now what?" maybe check your scores and apply for better cards? Chase freedom is a great card. I do hope you know what i mean in regards to my other posts.

Maybe you already know your scores? if you got approved for the cash rewards i say apply for a better card. I have the Cash Rewards also and the same day i applied for that i applied for the Chase Freedom, thats why i mentioned the Freedom. Its a great card and will grow with you. Although CLI's are HP's when customer initiated. Maybe even apply for AMEX BCE or a charge card like the Green because AMEX is a good relationship to have.

My post wasnt directed just at you either just people in general that have had there cap1 cards for a short period of time and expect a large limit. people should know what cap1 is and that is a conservative lender. i never said you posted the number and i dont work for cap1. but i do hold my ground by saying that people like you who have not had there card long dont need to be calling the exec office asking for a cli because that number will soon turn into a bunch of scripted CSR's saying the same thing all the time. you know why you got cap1 and thats because your new or rebuilding.

She said she would get back to me with some results, and told me not to worry....then she went further saying whether or not I receive a credit line increase or not she would make sure that I get some type of reward! So I guess I'll just wait it out :D.

see people like you who are gonna make that exec number just like any other CSR number. What makes you think you deserve a CLI? you have had this card for what 6 months? and the reason you went with cap1 is because you have no history or bad history? i know this forum is for helping people thats why i first shared the Exec number but this is not helping people! these people with no credit/bad credit feel entitle to CL's they dont deserve or cant handle. You guys are just ruining it for the people who deserve the CLI's and have proven it with years of ontime payments.

I want to buy a car in about 4-5 months, that will stay in California all year long and i was told CU have the best rates.

Now my question is like that. Should i join a CU in my resident state or in the state i want to buy the car? Does it make any difference ?

I can join easily some CU in Delaware because i meet the requirements to join, but i haven't found yet any CU in California were i meet the requirements, because obviously i don't live there or am part of any organisation they request.

Does anybody know a CU in California that I could join without being a californian resident? Or any CU that is nationwide ?

Any help would be great

Thanks

if your in the San Diego area i would look in to California Coast Credit Union i just refi'd my car with them and they have great rates! 675+ is 2.9% and 700+ is 1.9%. Great customer service too
