It is not true that if you close your accounts, the company will remove you from their database and cease to "share" (i.e. sell) your information. They keep your information and continue to "share" anything they can legally get away with - which is a lot. Read the fine print in their so-called "privacy" notices.

This is good and it is about time - it could go much further. The average citizen is in need of protection from predatory billionaires, including corporate CEOs who use money to "keep score" because they think life is a game about money. If people want to go live by themselves in the woods, that's fine, but when people live together in a social group, they need a government to keep the playing field level and protect the good, kind, and honest people from the selfish, greedy, amoral ones who will do anything they can get away with, for money, even if they have already grabbed much more than they could possibly spend in seven lifetimes.

I put everything I can on credit cards (I use only one during the month, unless the other has a special 5% cash rewards on gas, or groceries, etc.). It's like getting between 1% and 5% off on EVERYTHING, even my utility bills! Of course I ALWAYS pay off the balance in full (and on time) every month. I pay between $500 and $1500 per month to do this. My "utilization" right before I pay my bill is probably about 10%; Just after I pay my bill it is zero. I use FREE credit whenever it is offered so I leave my money gathering interest for as long as possible. I just made the final payment (of $942.17) on a Best Buy FREE 3yr 'same as cash' account. If I had not made that final payment on time, "deferred interest" in excess of $1200 would have been added to my bill!! The last time I checked my credit score (2009), it was 916 and the two CAs that I consider legitimate and accurate, but Experion had it as 811; when I read their report I noticed they had not included everything. Maybe somethings report to everyone except Experion. I think it is hard to get a credit score from Experion now - and I think it should be illegal for Experion to withhold information from the person on whom they are collecting information.

It's one thing to keep your customer data private from OTHERS, but NOT from the customer you are keeping data on. You should have the right to view ANYTHING and EVERYTHING that someone else keeps about you - and that includes doctors and all their "notes." You should have access to ANYthing that is ABOUT YOU! Yes, I think Experion should HAVE to provide ANYthing they have about you, including your credit score, or they should be denied a license as a Credit Reporting Agency. I checked my credit last in 2009 and BOTH of the other (legitimate) CAs showed my credit score as 916, but Experion, because they did not have full information, showed it as 811 - big difference from the other two. Maybe if a lot of people would write to the Attorney General about Experion's unsavory practices, they would get put our of business.
