I just got off the phone with NFCU. I was prior service and got out in 2005. No family members met the criteria that were prior service. Unfortunately they could not create a membership for me. Does anyone know if NFCY ever has open enrollment periods?

Along the same lines, I saw another denial letter I had in the past (I save them) and it said "available credit on bankcards accounts is too low and high credit utilization of open revolving trades report within the last twelve months"

Call me stupid, but those both read like the same thing. Or am I misunderstanding?

So before I started looking on this site I had applied for auto financing with Ford Motor Credit, but was denied. For some reason it took over 30 days to get the denial letter. One of the reason on the denial letter was "proportion of loan balances to loan amounts is too high".

Does anyone know exactly what this means?

So here is my predicament. I have a Nelnet loan that has continued to report 120+ days past due after a transfer to Florida Department of Education. I was thinking of just paying it off to at least show the account as closed.

So my question is. If I pay it off, about $1700. At this point, For both Nelnet and Florida Department of Education, this should report both tradelines as paid off at that point right? Right now Nelnet is showing 120+ days past due and Florida Department of Education is showing as a Chargeoff.

Here is what I am running into. I have a student loan that unfortunately defaulted in 2008/2009. The loan was serviced by Nelnet and has since been transferred to Florida Department of Education. Recently, after joining this site, I reached out to Nelnet about wanting to reinstate with them so that I could turnarund the negative credit reporting. I also included in the email that I wanted to fully honor what I signed for with the student loan.

Nelnet has continued to report the loan as 120+ days past due.

This is the response I got from Nelnet:

Thank you for contacting Nelnet. Your loan was transferred to the guarantor Office of Student Financial Assistance. Please contact the guarantor at 850-410-5200 "

The guarantor, Florida Department of Education, has been reporting it as a charge off. I spoke with someone at the FL Doe and they outright told me to dispute my credit report.

With all this being said. Given the email I have, and have printed, from Nelnet. Should this be sufficient to have Nelnet's reporting removed from my credit report?
