Maybe it's your parents that need the reality check then. Sad, just sad. Why don't you and your wife max out retirement accounts instead of putting that much money into a car?

You had it all "figured out" before you posted on this site. You didn't want advice, you wanted recognition.
I'm done with this. If you want to waste your money on something as stupid as the car you want to purchase, that's (unfortunately) your choice. Savings accounts are nice, but 26 doesn't last forever. With a wife and child you need to think beyond that.
