MISCELLANEOUS COMMENTARY: Needed (or wanted) a new car and had cash for down I had saved for years while driving my beater pick up truck. Tried B of A and was declined (I have personal and business checking with major balances there). Tried a local credit union and was approved for 2.49%. Called dealer to set up test drive and purchase and they wanted to see if they could get me a better rate. I was fully expecting a decline but I was approved in less than a minute. Signed papers and drove the car to B of A for cashiers check for down (that felt good). I am doubling up on payments for next few months so I can get ahead of the note in case I need a break at some point but payment so low it's really not a problem.
Thanks for all the great advice posted here, everyone has been a huge help in getting me on a better path!
Congrats big time. And this is just me, but the next check I would write would be to empty my BoA accounts and put them where you are treated like a valuable customer. They refused to give me a Bass Pro Visa a few years ago while I was rebuilding(680+ Fico). Cabelas stepped up to the plate, and that's where I do most of my business even though there is not a store anywhere near me. I feel the same way about Cap1, only worse. Much worse..
