AMOUNT OF LOAN: ~$26k
TERM CONTRACTED: 72/months
APR/LEASE RATE: 9.49
MONTHLY PAYMENT: $472
MISCELLANEOUS COMMENTARY: Zero down, and 9.49% interest. Rolled in $5000 of negative equity from previous auto loan. The old car needed an entirely new A/C system, tires, and it was missing. Plus we got out from our sub sub sub prime loan of 25.9% interest. I've been so scared to go into a dealership for fear of getting rejected or another horrible sub prime loan, but we went to a no haggle dealership and the finance guy bumped us down from 11% to 9.49% instead of putting us into a worse loan to pad his salary.
You guys were right on the money. Credit Union had the best terms, and the dealership told us to put away our checkbook unless we wanted to lower the monthly payment. More down didn't equal a lower interest rate so we kept our money in savings and drove off the lot.
