Can lenders see current CC balances, or only most recently reported?

I have an HSBC card that reports last day of month. Needing to make a purchase on it for wife's birthday, but also applying for auto loan in a week or so. Wondering if I'm okay to make the purchase--I know this will up my utilization, but my hope is that lender(s) will have no way of seeing that, since the company reported yesterday.

Am I right?

Unless HSBC reports more than 1 time a month, they are only going to see what is on reported on your credit report.
