So I was just approved and already purchased a "new" 06 Civic with total loan amount of 16k

How much of a hit are my scores going to take from this?

Hi....I don't have an answer to your question, but I want to know who you got financing with?  I have scores similar to yours and am looking to purchase a used car.

I went to a local place in San Diego who got financing through Mission Federal Credit Union

My Auto Fico was 730 i when I was filling out the paperwork

Thanks for the info!  And, I think the hit to your scores for the new account will be minimal, maybe a few points.  I remember seeing this topic addressed in some other discussions.  Congrats on the "new" car!!
