My car is on it's last leg and I need to replace it soon. Real soon; however, I just bought a house. How soon after purchasing a home should I wait before buying a new car?

If you can afford it, you don't have anything to wait for 
But hopefully you've factored in a slightly higher mortgage if your property taxes are raised or you have a emergency repair or something of that sort.
