How true is it?

When you get those offers in the mail from car dealerships offering you an amount of money for your car (provided that it's in good condition of course), does the dealership typically honor that number when you get there or is it just a scam to get you in the door?

SCAM most dealerships will give you what you own on your trade but they will just jack the price of the purchase vehicle up to compensate for the diff. always better off selling it private party!
