I'm in Austin too. I drove up to the Harker Heights branch this past wknd and spoke to branch mgr. She spent a lot of time researching membership rules. Turns out members of The Navy League are eligible for NFCU membership. Annual membership dues are $65. She said after I joined theNavy League I could bring in my proof and join on site.

Also i refi'ed my 13% UFCU auto with CapOne Auto after 12 mos of payments and went to 3%. Might be a good option since you already have history with them. I did not have a BK though
