Hello,
I am in need of purchasing a vehicle for myself, wife, and 2 young kids. The vehicle we are looking to get costs between 15-16k and we have 3k to put down. So I will be looking to finance approx. 12-13k.
My credit scores are:
TU - 592
EQ - 581
EX - 611
I have been working on my credit and worked it from low 500's up to where it is now in the last 2 years. Negotiating and paying off bad debt. I am down to only about $1,000 in debt including my credit cards, which are all fairly new.
Orchard Bank just raised my limit from $300 to $400 this month. ($150 balance but my credit report is behind on reporting this) I've had card for 1.5 years
Capital one just raised my limit from $300 to $500 last month. ($200 approx. balance) I've had card for 6 months
Macy's which is $500 limit. ($50 balance) I've had card for 3 months
I understand I am not going to get a GREAT interest reate, more likely around 15% or so. I would like a 72 month loan preferably to keep our monthly payment down but 60 month would be ok too. Preferably keeping my monthly payment between $250-$300.
What do you recommend? I applied at my credit union BECU and they denied me about 2 weeks ago.
One last note I have about 10-12 hard credit inquires in the past 2 years.
Thank you so much for helping.
I'd like to add I have just paid off a lot of stuff. In the past 2 months. So I saw a 30 point jump in the last 2 months in my credit score. My reasoning for being denied at credit union was too new of credit and recent collection accounts. But they are paid off now.
I have 100% on time payments on my credit cards.
Oh jeez sorry one last thing. I would really prefer to get a loan from a bank/lender and buy from private party or maybe a dealership. I don't want to deal with dealerships loans. Please.
Where did you get those scores from?

Right from my credit report, pulled 2 weeks ago.
Where did you get your credit report from? This is important to know because it determines whether those scores you posted are a FAKO or a FICO and that could make a world of a difference.
If it was straight from your credit report, I'm going to go ahead and believe they are FAKOs, since you can't purchase an Experian FICO score from anywhere.

ScoreSense.com here. I will pay and have myfico do my report right now. Please give me a little time.
Take your time
Even if you only get your Equifax FICO score from here, it'll give you a better and clearer and much more secure picture of where you might stand.

ok I just pulled my EQ credit score right now and paid the $19.99 and it is 629.
What do you recommend?
In doing this I just realized the 1 negative mark on my EQ score is $647 and I paid that about a month ago. It's been paid off.
