Pre-Approval Question

I got a pre - approval for a car worth $9,995.

The sales person said I got a pre-approval, but I need $1,100 down and it's going to be $242/month for 60 months with 12.99% APR. I know sales person try to take my down payment.

My question is: Is $242/month a fair deal with $1,100 down?

The $242 per month isn't as important as the 12.99% APR. I would try to get them to lower the APR or shop around.

Re: Pre-Approval Question

With a 619 FICO? Shop around.

Try applying to maybe LendingTree so you can get your app sent to a bunch of institutions. Also try CapOne and Roadloans. Only after you get an interest rate from them, should you go with the dealer's 12.99%. Also when you shop around and get a lower interest rate, go back to the dealer, tell him, and make him compete. Watch in amazement as your approval at the dealer most likely comes down. Smiley Happy
