Refinanced and score dropped?

I refinanced an auto loan from Ally who reported to Experian, and my credit union who I refinanced with also reports to Experian. Ally finally reported a 0.00 balance today after my refinance showed up with the credit union last month. So Experian dropped 20 points because it says I paid my auto loan... So it dropped 20 points because I no longer have two installments? Is this normal?

Re: Refinanced and score dropped?

It's normal if your old loan is $0 and your new loan is 100% utilization.  When you pay down the new loan below 100% you should get some of that back, and all the points will return when your installment utilization drops a bit more.
