Most internet dealers work on volume, not by price - so you should be good there.

Don't be surprised if they want to (and sometimes do) beat Capital One's rate...

I bought a car entirely online before - best experience of my life. I negotiated everything via email - once all details were agreed upon, I came in and said, pending the test drive, we have a deal.

Came back, spent 20 mins in finance office and was done. I wasn't pressured into any unnecessary fees or anything.

Was awesome.

Trade in value only applies to a car you are trading in. It's always lower than retail. If the salesman was using that value of course it's going to be lower. He was trying to put one over on you.

For the same reason someone trading in a car wants $20,500 for their it when it's only worth $16,800.

Negotiating car purchases can defy all sense of logic on both sides of the table..

In all cases.. it's to get the most they CAN for whatever their negotiating..
