i would think long and hard about your payments,because if you give all your money like tax return and get curent what happen three months from now? will you not be late anymore on your car payments ,will you be well enought to get a job, theses basic questions and more need be be answer, if your situration will not changed within a few months i would let them take the cars and use the money you now have and buy a car without payments.
even you might have to move closer to your wife work that have buses and rail services. i did that a few years back i moved to my current apartment and walk to work about 2 blocks away.
