2nd NAVY card, anyone approved?

December will be my 6 month anniversary, should I apply for my second card or try for a CLI? How about a LOC?

Mind sharing your results, scores?

Thank you.

Re: 2nd NAVY card, anyone approved?

Hello,

I have read in a prior NFCU guide that you don't apply for second card until your 1st one is max CL of $25k.  Once it's that high, you can apply for a second card according to guide,

Go for the CLOC first... I am at 1 year since 1st card and have 17.5 limit and full COCL 15k. They wont give me a 2nd card yet....

Re: 2nd NAVY card, anyone approved?

I have the CLOC but honestly find it useless, their CC rates are much lower and the only thing a CLOC is useful for is showing a $15,000 tradeline. I say app for the second card and make it a Go Rewards to collect the bonus.

Re: 2nd NAVY card, anyone approved?

I had NFCU cashrewards for about 1 year (5k then 10k line of credit) when I applied for a second (NFCUGo rewards). They approved me for $15.5k line of credit. I have not maxed out to 25k nor have I tried to, but if it worked for me it could work for you. I don't recall my exact scores when I got the second card, but probably in the 675-685 range.

Re: 2nd NAVY card, anyone approved?

The 2nd card is notoriously known to be harder to get.. Data points are all over the board on this. If the 2nd card is what you want, give it a shot Smiley Happy

In the last 6 months it has gotten even harder for that 2nd card....

Re: 2nd NAVY card, anyone approved?

Thank you for the feedback guys! I'd prefer just to have a CLI rather than a second card, and I thought it was just easier to get a second card.

I guess I'll just go for the credit line increase, maybe a have shot with the 6th month coming.
