I think by law it must be at least 30 days after filing to allow creditor notification...creditors have the right to attend, but most do not. The BK courts usually try to schedule it as soon as possible after the 30 days, depending on the backlog. Each creditor must have time to recieve notification by mail. That is why there is the 30 day wait, but the automatic stay is effective from filing date, so creditors cannot take actions to collect debts while waiting. The 341 meeting is really not a big deal by the way, as long as you are truthful and not hiding assets.
