800 Credit Score with Bankruptcy showing

Hi All,

Has anyone been able to reach a 800 credit score with a discharge bankruptcy showing?  Just checking to see if its a possiblity at all or does it only occur once it drops off your credit report.

Have never read about anyone obtaining this, I have to say its impossible. I can attest to that, had BK7 dismissed on TU and it was consistently rangebound 709-723 for the final 2.5 years it was on file while my Fico was soaring on the other 2, EX to the 800s.When the BK dropped the Fico soared to 805.

Re: 800 Credit Score with Bankruptcy showing

I would say no chance of that happening.  It's difficult enough to sniff 700 and I'm 6 years out of BK13 filing with 1 year to go...  I don't expect to soar to 800 when it falls off but I am expecting the mid 700's.

FICO8 current as of : 4-17-24 EQ: 724 TU: 707 EX: 706
Hard INQs last 12 months: EQ: 5 | TU: 8 | EX: 9
Verizon Visa $8500 Amex Delta Reserve $10,000 Care Credit $18,000
NFCU CashRewards $7500 Apple Card $7000 Best Buy $8000 Amazon $5000
NFCU auto loan (2022 Ford Bronco Sport Badlands - Cactus Gray) 6.95%
NFCU motorcycle loan (2024 Harley Davidson Road Glide - Alpine Green & Chrome) 9.45%
Total CL: $64,000 --- Total CC UTI: 27% --- AAoA: 5.5 years --- Income: $200k

Doubt it can happen but I can always try!  I am aiming for 760 w/ BK 7 showing, and have 2 yrs 10 months left before it drops.  One 30 day late to drop off this year and am currently at 734 middle score FICO 8..

Starting Score:9/2013 630
Current Score: 2/2015 myFICO scores: EQ 730 EX 734 TU 734

Sounds like you have worked very hard to get where you're at, I commend you and hopefully my credit is like that someday.  I never want to go back to what I have experienced in the past 10 years again.

Never say never.  I read that the older it is, the less impact it has on your score.  What I'm seeing, it looks like the majic number is 5 yrs.  Kind of like the HP"S.  They stay on our report for 24 months, but only count on our score for 12 months.  Looks like you're working hard on your score & have done a great job!  Good luck on reaching the 800's.

Thank you.  6 -7 years post BK is when the accounts included in BK fell off and when my score jumped (TU increased 60 pts when my last one fell off).

Re: 800 Credit Score with Bankruptcy showing

I bet it is possible or at least close to it.

I am at 660 and not even a year after my discharge.

I will be in the 700s in the second year after my discharge.  That would give me 8 years to get less than 100 more points.

I dont know for sure, but it seems possible to me.

A lot probably depends on your credit before filing, income, etc.

Rebuild started in 2014  -  $100k unsecured credit in 2017  -  $500k unsecured credit in 2024.

Good luck with that...  as others have said, they've never seen it... and neither have I.

800 is a whole different ballgame than 700 and a public record is still a public record.
