Average cost of a bankruptcy attorney?

I'm going to be helping a family member that is buired in debt.  Not majorly buried but buired for her income. We've pretty much come to the conclusion that she needs to file for bankruptcy because she's never going to get ahead. She just keeps drifting further and further backwards and is now being hounded by creditors.  What is the average cost of a bankruptcy attorney? Does it vary by state, location ect? She's located in GA.

I believe mine was close to $3k when I filed 4 years ago but that was a big one that included a lot of business and personal dept.  Her's is just kind of basic, some credit cards, medical credit card (dental) and student loans. I don't think the loans can be included. I'm in the early stages of researching this now.

I believe mine was $1000 plus the court filing fees....

mine was 2000$ plus the filing fee - but i had a garnishment happening so it required more work i think..that was in 2011...

$700 & the $306 filing fee. Cheapest guy in the book. Specialized in BK7 and pet estates. Getting a call back is difficult but that seems like a universal complaint. Other than that he appears quite capable.

If I was going to do it again I'd spend more money for the peace of mind.

I am in VT and mine was right around $1200 with filing fees included.

Does the price vary based on the complexity of the case? 

Like a basic BK is this price for if you have a lot of things that might/will complicate it, the price goes up?

yes.  my attorney operated this way.  complexity can drive price per services required.  I believe eliminating a judgement was $250 per judgement.

I found the cheapest guy in my city, and he was 750.00 plus the 3066.00 filing fee, this was for me and my wife to file together and my wife had garnishments. I must say after looking into it, he is the best attorney in my town and he has really been helpful through our process. We just had our 341 meeting a week ago and are on our way to discharge....Good Luck!!

Thanks for the info!  She is in the Dallas/Villa Rica area of GA so if anyone in that area knows of a reasonably priced BK attorney, we're open to suggestions.
