Hello - How soon out of bankruptcy can or should my husband start trying to building with Navy Fed? He currently has two Cap1 cards with the $300/ea limit.
thanks.
NFCU is all over the map. He could try now and if declined make sure to recon. Good luck
Did he include any debt from NFCU in BK? If so, Navy Fed and many CUs will not let you back in unless you agree to repay the debt.
If you did not include NFCU in BK you can start pretty much as soon as discharged, but they will probably require him to start with a secured loan or CC and work your way up.
Thanks for the responses. I guess we will give it a shot.
No they NFCU was not included in his BK.
We were able to get in with them about 8 months post discharge. Got a small starting limit, but was not approved for a CLOC. Good luck to you! We have loved our interactions with them so far.
I started with a secured CC with NFCU 4 months after my BK13 was discharged. At the time I couldn't even get a FICO score due to not having any credit for the past 10 years. Several months later I got a credit rebuilding loan with them.
I am just about ready to get some unsecured credit with them.
Good luck to you.
I was discharged from BK in May of 2014 and get a $500 credit card with them in June. Good luck.
Sooner the better. I was approved the day after my chapter 7 discharge.
