Merry Christmas to all:
Does anyone know of a post BK friendly credit card that might be approved if someone has high student loan debt (over $150K). BK does not discharge any of that.
I'm three years past a CH 7 but have not had steady income in those three years. Thanks for any insight.
Capital One did not discriminate in approving me for their Platinum Mastercard based upon my high student loan debt ($146K - medical school related). I'm not entirely certain that the amount of student loan debt in and of itself would hinder one's approval chances for a credit card. Poor payment history on student loans and/or current delinquency are likely to diminish one's chances of approval for a credit card. I was approved for the Cap One Platinum Mastercard two weeks post discharge of my Chapter 7 bankruptcy. My student loan payment history is current without late payments. Obtaining stable employment and income will help your overall financial situation, ability to pay current debts, and decrease lender perceptions of you as a poor credit risk.
