Oh, I also have a BoA checking account with a balance in it. Will this help me get a BoA secured card, or is that out of the question with a recent BK on my record?

Probably.  If you see my earlier post, they've been pushing the secured card on me and the only reason I can figure is because of the savings accounts I still have with them, which are less than $2k and I haven't even put new money in for awhile.  I decided to leave it there so I can get a regular card from them earlier than 7-8 years.

Re: Bankruptcy Friendly Credit Cards Pt.2

Does anyone have the NFCU recon number? I can't find it anywhere. I got a letter saying they denied me solely because of the bankruptcy. So I am wondering since I am a new member (less than 30 days old) if I should just wait a few months and try again?

Re: Bankruptcy Friendly Credit Cards Pt.2

Ok so they got back to me and unless I can send a copy of discharge papers for my Chap 13, which there aren't any yet, I would only qualify for the Secured card. Which I most likely will do because I have heard awesome things about NFCU and I would like to eventually within 6 months get a car loan thru them. Thanks for the advice! :-) After I get this secured card I am going to hold off awhile and wait to apply for anything else.

CrashDouble,

Your story sound a lot like mine. I very rarely post but I read a lot of these posts. My chapter 7 was also discharged in Feb 11 and I am in the process of getting approved for my very first mortgage. I just wanted to let you know that your story as well as others have encouraged me :-)

Job well done with your credit.
