Re: Bankruptcy Friendly Credit Cards Pt.2

Coney, I burned Capital One for $2800 so your response gives me some hope, LOL. My payment history with them was perfect so I'm hoping they will give me a second chance. I know these situations are very YMMV, though. Thank you for your response. Smiley Happy

Thank you all so much for your helpful advice!! I applied and was denied for a Capital One secured card (I know, I jumped the gun way too quick) due to "recent delinquencies" with them. I was never delinquent with them or any creditor prior to my filing, but I understand. Thankfully it was only a soft inquiry. I'll try again after 4-6 months of positive payment history with my two crappy cards lol.

Regarding USAA, I do not qualify at all even though my father works for the Department of Defense (as a civilian, and he's not a veteran). PenFed I am not sure what their requirements are. I may try for a secured card at my local credit union, but they are so stingy when it comes to lending even when I had 780+ scores. It's my own money I am borrowing against, so I do not understand why lenders are so quick to deny applications for secured cards. I will try with my credit union in a few months. I also found another CU in my area that offers a credit-builder type loan, which is also borrowing against my own savings, but I'll take what I can get at this point lol.

Gives you the ability to join NFCU Smiley Happy They have a great secured card

Seem that a lot of people are approved for Discover via new Pre-Approval site with BK on file and less than one year post discharged. I personaly know someone who was aproved for a discover it who was D/C this year with fico 620's for 1,200.

You apply online, make a $17 donation to one of their associated groups and $5 to open a share account. As long as your EQ is 650 plus and you don't have a lot of recent inquiries or new accounts, you're golden.

I haven't heard anything directly from NFCU but by the looks of it, this card just doesn't seem as easy to get approved for. Just me making assumptions though

I already applied. Assuming I get denied, should I immediatly apply for the cash rewards or wait a year?

Assuming you are declined, send a message for a reconsideration.

I don't think Discover does recon's. I think you pulled the trigger too early on Discover, especially with them being burned. Garden the 2 cards you have for six months and go from there.
