I called to recon twice and was unsuccessful. They were polite and seemed to want to help out, but couldn't get past the BK being so recent. I was told to call back in 6 months and I should be in better shape, they just want to see a little payment history. They said the secured card would have required another app so I decided against that. I've got my three revolving accounts already, so will garden those for now.

Sorry to hear that...they denied me as well last month and my BK is over 4 1/4 years old. 5 yrs in October
I've been waiting til August to apply for Barclay Apple Visa and it's now August. My TU isn't where I planned it would be (615). I would feel a lot more comfortable if I was in the 650 range.
I'm 9 months post BK and have 8 months solid history with 2 Cap One cards. I also have 11 months post BK positive history with a car loan. I need a better rate, but I've been holding off applying for refi because I hear Barclay is inquiry sensitive (I have 3 on TU). I have student loans that defaulted but I am now repaying.
if you were in my shoes, would you apply? I really need that 3rd revolver and I really want it to be Apple Barclay. I would purchase my new iPhone with it, now that my contract is up.
Advice is wanted! Thanks!!
I would wait until your score improves and you have more establishment under your belt.
@morgacj2004,
Thanks for your input!
Hi Scupra,
What I have to add to the list is I have been approved for a $500 RBFCU CashBack Rewards MC. 0% for 9 months on balance transfers and cash advances. I originally app'ed for $3,000 and they countered with $500, due to the BK and the fact that I am less than a year discharged.
I'll take it, for now.
I also app'ed for Barclay Apple Visa and was declined. I did recon - twice - and was shot down both times. They want me to have 1 year of post BK positive rebuilding. I'll try again in December. . Oh well, 1-2 isn't too bad. Both RBFCU and Barclay pulled TU, so my score will take a hit, but it's fine. I have an apartment and car refi to apply for, then I'm done applying until December.

Oh no!! didnt they tell you to wait lol...Im assuming you read the post after you applied? Sorry to hear that, you could try recon again. This remind me of those days when i didnt listen to my parents when they knew better and i still did what i wasn't supposed to lol...lesson learned
Garden time for sure now, no more applying...
I was approved for the Credit One Card for $300 before discharge. I did Capital One but was denied or high revolving balance, which is odd because I only have student loans since the Credit One Card has not posted yet.

Nice job on the RBFCU approval. They are a great CU to be with after you build some history with them. Treat the card right and it will grow with you.
