I actually kept a credit card from my CU through BK which has no lates and I've had for almost a year. Applied for Capital One Platinum and got approved. Was wondering what my chances were for the Quicksilver or Barclay card.

What was your approval with CapOne?

I would wait a couple months and then try for another card if that is what you are wanting.

Re: Bankruptcy friendly credit cards

Well, I'm an AU on a friend's Capital One and also I have another card from my CU that survived BK with 9-10 mos of good history and no Lates. I was hoping I could get another but if need be, I can wait.

I would feel better telling you to apply for another card if your approval was over the $1k mark. Not saying that you CAN'T, just telling you what I would do. There is no rush to pick up the 3rd card ASAP. GL

Re: Bankruptcy friendly credit cards

I can't guarantee it for you but both me and my husband applied for 2 Cap One cards the same day and were approved for both the same day. I got 2 Platinum MC's, one was $300 and the other was $500 starting limit. My husband got 2 Platinum MC's, the first was $500 limit, the second had $2000 limit. My sister also applied for and was approved for 2 Cap One cards the same day. We all 3 were within 30 days of our chapter 7 discharge date when we applied. BTW, we all 3 used the link to see if we were pre-qualified but were NOT pre-qualified for anything, we all just took the chance and applied for the suggested cards and were approved.

Just FYI: This was back in Sept of 2013 and those same Cap One cards are now as follows:

My first Platinum MC: Started with $300 limit, did a PC to Quick Silver at  6 months and have had 3 CLI's so far with a current CL of $5300.

My second Platinum MC: Started with $500 limit, since then I have had 3 CLI's so far with a current CL of $5500.

Husband's first Platinum MC: Started with $300 limit, he also did a PC to Quick Silver at  6 months and has had 3 CLI's so far with a current CL of $5300.

Husband's second Platinum MC: Started with $500 limit, since then he has had 3 CLI's so far with a current CL of $6500.

The only CLI that was automatic was the first one ,the others were initiated by us online and after we let 6 statements cut since our last CLI, they approved another CLI with a SP online. So basically, every 6 months you can get a CLI with them by requesting one online and it is a SP. Again, YMMV.

Our first CLI for the Credit Steps program was supposed to be only $250 increase but we each received a $1000 CLI at the 6 month mark on all our cards. We used them heavily, PIF two or three times a month to keep under 30% at all times and never let more than 10% balance report each month. They have been extremely good to us!

P.S. - Yes, they were IIB.

Chap 7 BK Discharge Aug 2013 (Initial CL/Current CL): Discover IT ($5.5K/$32.5K) Cap1 QS ($500/$30K) Amazon ($700/$8K) Barclay's MC ($1,300/$10.3K) Upromise ($500/$33K) Lowe's ($900/$13K) Sportsman's Visa ($17K) WF Amex ($13K) AMEX BCE ($10K) AMEX Gold NPSL - FICO's: All 740+

Re: Bankruptcy friendly credit cards

I applied for the Quicksilver this morning. Approved for $1000. I thought for sure I would be declined. Also, for the heck of it I called Chase and spoke to two different people about a Bankruptcy being on my report and if I could potentially be approved. They both said "it won't necessarily disqualify you altogether as there are other factors as well. Just make sure you're rebuilding, making large payments, and keeping utilization low". I asked how much time would be needed before I apply and they said , just get your scores higher. Then apply.
