Once your attorney files all the required paperwork. You'll have a case number. You can go and sign up on Pacer and follow the paper trail to the end. I knew what's up before my attorney sent me stuff. And it was around 30 days for the meeting for me.

Yesterday we visited attorney to review and sign bk paper work. I was under impression that when going into sign my paper I would get the case number.
How long did it take to receive your bk case#? Was your 341 meeting 30 days after getting case #?
TIA
Case # is assigned by federal BK court, which in some areas is only open for filing 1 day per week...it takes time.
Thank you for responding. I'm just a bit nervous about the process.
How long after I receive the case# should I sign up on Pacer? You have some great scores, how did you go about rebuilding after bk? And how long did it take to get to 800's
TIA

Well actually I filed ch.7 in 1996, but kept my house, so I had a motgage. I was not a member of Myfico then, and knew nothing of rebuilding. I just learned to live without credit at all, except the mortgage I payed regularly. In 2010 me and a friend from work were looking at Goldwing motorcycles...he says...man you can afford that. I tell him my credit was too bad...he says it will not hurt to check...it was 801. The BK had fallen off 4 years earlier. My scores have been around 800 or better ever since. I always pay credit cards in full every month,,,I have 15 of them. I am very disciplined with debt now. To answer your question...I never actively rebuilt, and was shocked that 14 years had passed when in the motorcycle dealership...time flies. I am glad I did not rebuild, because learning to live without credit was the best life lesson ever.

Also...until firemedic's post I have never even heard of pacer...good guess on the BK though. In my lifetime I actually filed twice...slow learner...ch13 in 1983 and ch.7 in 1996. I also helped my niece file ch.7 this year...I caught up all her secured debt and paid her lawyer. I guess I could be considered a BK expert. So today I am very, very, responsible with credit...I learned the hard way!!

You can sign up at anytime. You enter the info and you pay if I remember corrctly .10 per page. I know I was on all the way thru and paid no more than 12-14 bucks for the 90 days till DC. Your case filing might be there already if the lawyer filed your case.
Found it. The fee, as of April 1, 2012, to access the web-based PACER systems is $0.10 per page. The per page charge applies to the number of pages that results from any search, including a search that yields no matches with a one-page charge for no matches. The charge applies whether or not pages are printed, viewed, or downloaded. There is a maximum charge of $3.00 for electronic access to any single document other than name searches, reports that are not case-specific, and transcripts of federal court proceedings.
I printed every page as it progressed until the last one was the DC and placed it in a binder if any non compliant creditors,CA's, ect. tried any funky stuff. One tried but shut down by my lawyer threatening a lawsuit. Poof gone.
@empressj...try not to sweat the 341 meeting, the creditors usually do not show, and it is not near as bad as you might think. Often lasts less than 15 minutes. As long as you do not hide anything, and answer any question honestly the whole BK process is not that bad. Just learn from it.
Thank you, I appreciate the info!
