Lilrosy4, how soon after your discharge did you app for the card?  I'm planning on app'ing for the same card when I receive my discharge--I'm just curious about the time frame.  Was this the first tradeline you had (or app'd for) after discharge?

Re: Bk friendly creditors

I filed my BK in 05/2012.

  • I was approved for a C1 Secured with $49 down on $200 limit while stll in bankruptcy. I've since increased it to $500 on my own.
  • My BK Chpt 7 discharged 08/16/12 and I also was approved $250 for NY and company in 09/2012
  •  Lane Bryant $150 09/12.
  • The strange thing is NY and Company denied me online and then about 12 days later I got a credit card in the mail.
  • Walmart denied me due to BK and HSN also denied me. Before BK score was in low 470s.
  • I got approved with C1 Auto Finance for $18,000 car loan for new car on 08/18/12

Since that I have covered all bills 100% on time and in full so trying not to apply for anything before 04/13 to see where score lands

Re: Bk friendly creditors

Best Buy is definately YMMV.  I was brave enough to app with them just because Cap1 backs their card and i have 2 Cap1 one cards approved and in great standing. I was wrong, Denied across the board for anything of theirs.

Re: Bk friendly creditors

I was wondering about department store cards. Can anyone tell me what department store cards they were able to obtain after bk discharge and what your credit score was at the time of obtaining these cards? I would like to have one or two of these cards but I'm afraid to apply since my score is coming up but only very slowly.

Re: Bk friendly creditors

I just spoke to GEMB and they explained that they do not look at applications that have a BK for at least 24 months post BK. He said that the system does an automatic decline. So tough to know what to apply for!
