CH 13 final review before discharge

Just curious how long it took for everyone's final review on CH 13 took before they received their discharge papers?  My last payment was the 25th of last month.  Within a week of that, I did get a letter from the trustee that they would be doing the final review for the discharge.  I know I'm just being impatient, but 3.5 years of those payments seemed like forever.

Congrats! Major props to you for enduring a Ch13. Good luck in your rebuild! Sorry I can't answer your question, but I'm sure someone will be able to.

Re: CH 13 final review before discharge

It's so different for everyone. My last payment after 5 years was 2/24/15 and I didn't get discharged until 6/24/15. That's LOOOONG. I think usually it's 60-90 days.

Re: CH 13 final review before discharge

I'm hoping the holidays don't throw even more delay in it.  I'm itching to apply for my NFCU card.  Having been with them for over 17 years and not having anything with them included in the BK, more than one credit card rep with them said I have a very good chance of getting an unsecured one...just need those discharge papers.

Check pacer.gov to see if your discharge is showing.  If it is just print it out.  It usually shows there before anywhere else.

Re: CH 13 final review before discharge

Mine was a little over 5 months after I sent my last payment in.  Most people seem to be around 60-90 days.

Discharged Chapter 13 late 5/15. Starting my rebuild:

Our last payment was 9/24/15, received discharge papers 12/8/15; looks like it could be up to 3 months

Re: CH 13 final review before discharge

Our CH13 was closed on 12/15/2015. I asked the trustee how long until the discharge letter would go out. They said they have to wait for all of the final payments issued to be cashed/cleared, then they would send a discharge letter. She said they check the status every week to see if they can send the letter. They really seemed on the ball about it. I asked what would happen if, say, after 90 days, some payments were not cashed. She said at that point they would reclaim the funds and issue the clearance letter since we have completed everything.

We had ended up overpaying on ours so they sent us a refund check and a certificate of completion which states all debts have been satisfied and the debtors should be granted a discharge. Pacer.gov shows it as discharged as well, but the NDC.org website shows it as almost completed. I asked the trustee what we had to do to get it completed, she said all of the final payments have to be cashed.

You can always call the trustee's office to check on the status of the final payments clearing. Our trustee's office was way more helpful than our lawyers were. They returned my phone calls and answered all of my questions. When I called them a month before we were done with ours, I asked them what we had to do to make sure everything went smoothly. She said we had to complete a credit management type course and some other paperwork stuff. We got it all done no thanks to our lawyers who never mentioned any of this. I asked when they were going to tell us that we had to do these other steps and all we got was a blank stare.
