Cancel AutoDebit before BK?

My Ch. 7 was was filed on Sept. 17. Two of the items, both with Bank of America, are set up on Auto Draft each month from my checking acct. Should I cancel those before the creditor (BofA) gets the letter notifying them that I filed Ch. 7? I've heard stories where, even after they receive the letter, they continue to auto-draft from your checking account.

If you are filing banko you would not want to pay them at all.  I would immediately cancel your auto draft.  If they draft after you have cancelled and they are not authorized to take the money out, they are in violation of the FDCPA and can face serious fines for that.

Check your contracts-

They may me able to legally take the $ out of your checking account- I know my CU can if I were to default.
