Thank you Luv for the story and info.
Thank you so much DIVA for all the help and info in the thread! Your thoughts sounds like something I can try and for better or for worse I need to put a $2,500 charge on it along with the regular charges for my utility bills on it next month.
The 2.5K is something i have to have for the business and I wont be able to make a big payment to offset all these upcoming expenses.
I feel confidant that I will be able to show the kind of activity they desire but am now worried about UTL of 3K on a 5K card. Hopes and prayers until then I guess.

I guess we are a two of a kind. For better or for worse..we each did the same thing-- Applied and got a few products before Ch 7. These products remain in good standing after discharge. The old argument against this is we didn’t discharge our good accounts along with all the bad accounts. No matter how legal or illegal… it ended working out and you have a longer history than those that had to wipe their entire history with discharge.
My only suggestion is before applying for the Kia… get some sort of secured loan to get the “Perfect Mix” of products. Yes, the car loan will give you that mix but it couldn’t hurt to get the mix before applying.
Only other suggestion is read what “DIVAOFSONGS” has written. She has some great thoughts based on some great experience through out this thread.
Oh, he doesn't have to worry about bullets. As a "retired" mechanic/service advisor of 30 years, IF he had any worries, it would be the investigators trying to figure why the brakes failed LMAO !!!! J/K..
I started my down payment fund with Texas Federal Credit Union to get a relationship going. The rep suggested a small loan or credit card to have more of a history with them. He got me instant approval for the unsecured $500 card. 0% purchases and 9.9% balance transfers for the first 6 months. 16% there after. I transferred the $239 balance from the First Premier (36% Extortion Card).
Honesty I don't think it's "illegal" for them to offer cards pre or post bankruptcy. They just take advantage of the fact that you can't do it again for 10 years. Also, they really don't want to lose more consumers spending money nowadays. They want you right back in the market spending money rather than denying you for years because of it. Some still do. I got outright "bankruptcy" denials from Barclay's, Sears and Discount Tire.
About a month ago I wrote a comment in here about trying to get a CLI for my Quicksilver 6 month anniversary. I ended up getting turned down because I wasn’t showing enough activity. That month I put about 1K worth of transactions, made several payments and had a bal. of about 2K on a 5K card.
I tried again last week and showed about 3K worth of activity, several payments and now have a 3.5K bal. on this 5K card. Was just denied again and their reason was the same “Not enough activity” I don’t get it!? There was nothing stating “Your avg mothly pmt has been to low” or “bal is to high” etc. I don’t know what to do!?
Each CLI request didn’t check my ~650 credit so no pulls.
I luckily am in a position to pay the card down to about 1K and figure I can just chill here in the garden for a few more months. This is not what I expected based on the experiences I have read in this thread.
Any ideas? Suggestions?
Cap1 is HUGE on usage and payments for CLI decisions. When was the last CLI you received?
This card is now 7 months old and this first attempt for a CLI. I recognize Cap1 likes usage and payments but for my first attempt I had an average of 1K of activity for 6 mons. That seems like a lot of activity to me. I did the recon after another 3K of activity and pmts. That 3k brought me to about 50% utl. (2,500 of 5,000)
I have a return/refund that will go through tomorrow that will put 1,500 back on the card putting UTL at less than 25%. Im thinking of writing a recon letter. What should I do? I don’t see any time Ill be able to put this much usage on the card so I don’t know how Ill ever get a CLI unless I just tuck my tail and head back to the garden.
Yes, this is my point. I don’t know what else I could do to get a CLI. The details are all above. First attempted CLI was just after 6 months. Second attempt was a month later. I can’t keep spending/paying or ill go broke. It just seems imposible. Unless anybody has any other suggestions… I think I just need to go back to garden and try in 3 months or so. I cant believe this!
Please wait until the next statement cuts and try again. Your util was too high this month....at 50%, you will probably have an issue getting a CLI, however, once you are under 25%, you should be okay. You can try every month without a HP, it is always a SP with them. I really think if your util wasn't as high, you would have received the CLI, so please wait until after your statement cuts next month and try again....then if you are dec again, then call for a recon. I have been very successful with them and I know this to be the case. The one time I received a dec was when my util was over 50%. Same situation, I was waiting for a large refund to clear. The next month it went through. Also, it takes a few months for the usage to catch up, if you have high usage this month, it takes like 2 months for them to register it for a CLI approval. Hope this helps.

Oops, I read to quickly and misunderstood the reference to a recon..
I really want to stress that nobody should be spending money they don't have on a credit card in hopes of obtaining a CLI. Charging normal expenses and paying them off is one thing, borrowing money in hopes for a CLI is another.
Thank you- This sounds like a great track. I will try again just after statement cuts. My refund will be reflected bringing my util. under 25%.
My only concern was that I was below 25% when I tried the first time last month and they said that the 1K of activity (normal expenses and things I needed for the business) wasn’t enough.
I have to wonder if they are having trouble with the amount of income I indicated when asked. I think I said ~40K. hmm
